Re: Non drivers
No doubt the doom and gloom brigade will be along soon to tell us non drivers are getting made redundant/sacked/forced to drive, etc🫣

Re: Non drivers
Of course they will be able to sign for duty's unless a non driver has already picked a duty in the new 3 men to 4 duty way of working.

Re: Non drivers
It'll be swings and roundabouts whether that is a good or bad shift pattern. I'm sure CWU can answer the question with an honest and genuine response by now.

Re: Non drivers
I think the CWU need to come out and be a bit more open for their plans to encourage everyone to drive. How exactly?
Is it a case of 95% plus need to drive in an office to get 2/5 Saturdays off?
If so, that’s not encouraging people, it’s bordering on blackmail.

Re: Non drivers
One of the options I think it was 1 in 3 you had to have 100% drivers in office no mention of any of the other duty patterns requiring 100%.

Re: Non drivers
Some people currently work six days a week so speed of delivery 2nd class they drop down to five days a week.

Re: Non drivers
Well, 2/5 Saturdays (which the first few pilot offices have selected) is even better than 1/3 so it stands to reason that you need practically everyone driving. Staff need to know if their office is to be excluded from any of the options.

Re: Non drivers
In the latest live, Martin Walsh said that in the pilots fatigue is an issue for non drivers because the drivers are rotating between walking duties and driving duties each day and non drivers dont have that option. The only reduction in fatigue for non drivers is coming from the indoor work on Saturdays. He then goes on to say they are looking at ways of working out a method of getting non drivers to do outdoor work on Saturdays too to, and I quote, help with the fatigue.
How does more outdoor work on Saturdays help with fatigue more than indoor work does?
he says
''we know delivery postmen dont want to be stuck indoors on a Saturday''
But youve just said fatigue is an issue and the one day of indoor work is the only counter to that?
Whats the script here Martin, you are contradicting yourself with this.

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: Non drivers
There isn’t going to be a way of reducing fatigue for non-drivers.
They’ll get battered every single day.
The union should be honest about that.
Loads of non-drivers and the ones i know are at least 20 years plus in the business and driving was never in their contracts.
Going to be very hard for those that don’t drive going forward.
