Rarely do I say this but I have to agree with your sentiments.
Whilst everyone else was jumping on the Labour bandwagon I had a horrible feeling in my stomach. I feel I will proved right after at least ten years of mortgaging this country we now find that we can't afford our negative equity property called Britannia. The winner is Blair in all this as he essentially sold his property at the top of the ladder and is now reaping laods of cosy contracts at various companies.
Brown on the other hand has completely mis-judged his old 'dictactor' friend Blair. Blair only gave up the running of the country once he saw that this country's economy is about to go pear-shaped. Brown will be left with a country in tatters, and then the Conservatives will come into power in 18 months times with this country on it's knees.
As for Leighton he talks nonense a lot of the time. He might have walked the floor a couple of times but doens't do it anymore. As for reading everyone's emails, thats bull, he employs someone else to reply on his behalf. He was there when Leeds Utd mortgaged everything for Europe, almost got there and then came crumbling down as it was a high risk strategy.
I do admire some of his approach and do not want to sound like I am contradicting what I have said before.
It sickens me how top senior mgmt do get way above inflation rises without consequencial elements written into their contracts. It doesn't mean to say they are not worth what they are paid relative to someone else in the company or the indsutry/sector as a whole, but when you screw-up you should not be getting golden handshakes.
It's not worth banging on about Leighton he has worked hard and got his rewards, whether you agree with them or not. He has banked plenty to keep logs on the fire durnig this forthcoming Depression. I won't call it a recession as that indicates we might get off lightly. This is a true depression and when 3million homeowners re-apply for their mortgages in the next 12 months look at their faces, that is depression.

Just had a letter from Virgin Media informing me that my daytime landline calls will be having a 'small' increase.
