Mother's Day tomorrow, how busy do you think it will be?

Post by OikOik »

I'm working it tomorrow, first Mother's Day at RM.

Will it be very busy tomorrow or just slightly busier than a usual Sunday?

Both Mother's Day and Valentine's Day aren't anywhere near as busy as they used to be. Only a few years ago in MCs we'd have to have a separate large packet setup purely for flowers. These days there's no need, either we lost a lot of the contracts during the last dispute or a lot less people are sending flowers. A lot less people send cards, we don't see any real increase in letters anymore.

I was referring to just them days only. The "hammering" is just the usual end of financial year stuff that goes through the system. A couple of weeks ago a couple of walks on a batch on my machine had 5 boxes of mech in one hit.

In our DO it's been busy all week with flowers and Funky Pigeon/Moonpig cards.

Same, shame is quite a lot of the cards that arrived today stayed in the office undelivered.

Certainly should, unfortunately all those handwritten cards are classed as standard mail to be rolled over with the rest of the mail that no longer gets delivered when it's supposed to be.

Tbf sending a card via moonpig or flowers in a box is hardly a personal touch, I doubt anyone is sitting at home waiting for it, I certainly wouldn’t be

That's after they've been held by up to 5 days by the DTS system

I’m working today too. Managers expect it to be crazy busy, but I think (hope?) yesterday (Sat) was the last bulk of it.

I'm sure plenty of mother's day cards are left sat in frames or boxes across the country. The royal mail way, if it ain't tracked bring it back.

Charging 3 times as much money for a service that is 100 times worse now. RM is broken.

Plenty of flowers and gift boxes and plenty of walks left in due to understaffing at a traditionally busy time of year.
