P739's

Post by Stormproof »

Do you think the P739's should be changed?

IMO they are confusing for the customer, no one ever reads the back regarding the time to leave before collecting, ID requirements etc. On the front they seem to confuse the Postie, well they do at my office, we either get no date on the card, wrong item ticked, no ref number if a signed for and sometimes either no name or address written on it.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I have the same experience and now they have changed completely its even worse.

With regard to IDs perhaps this would work better

Obviously it would be the same font and size but I think this would cut down on the "No ID" arguments.

IDEAL CARDS

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

IMHO and working in a callers office these 2 form lefts are what I would like to see -

Always put the Reg/Special Number on the card, even if all the other details are wrong this number is needed when try to track down the item.

Not required but I always put a brief description of the item on the card as this save time in the C/O when try to find it. Ie k66yla and Teebs won't need to look at every packet on the shelf with No 10 on it - only the Blue Amazon ones.

I also think every new postie should spend a day in the callers office so that they can see what problems can occur if details are incomplete.

Totally agree with you TBT, everyone should spend a day in the 'Room of Doom' not just new starters though

IMO theres nothing wrong with the P739's :Very Happy its as you said k66yla the boys and girls do not fill them out right and the customers do not bother to read them  ive lost count the number of times a customer comes to our office after we have closed wanting to collect there item but have not read the card showing what time we close :no no Most of the staff are in to much of a rush to finish and dont give a toss if there not filled out right :mad also they dont work in the callers office so dont give a s**t.You may as well talk to a :arrrghhh then some of the guys at my office.

Hers a classic, one postie last week got caught by the customer puting a 739 through the door while he was in :d'oh! He could not think of an excuse quick enough and the guy knew what he was up to,why do people do this :hmmmm

I think your right its down to the staff not filling in the dockets in full, having worked in the callers i understand how important it is to have all the correct info of the item, brief discriptions are helpfull and yes i really do think that all staff should have some form of time down the callers so they have a clue to what its like and how important it is to have the cards filled out.

All new staff and present staff should have correct training and managers should do thier job by supporting that side,if people are not trained then they dont have the tools to do the job,IMHO that is just as important, its an entitlement to have good quality training not the rush job that tends to happen now and oh we cant give the staff that we havent got the money should not be an acceptable excuss.

I think there should be a space on the form for a brief description of the item, even if it's only "small brown box". Ticking the box for packet doesn't tell the C/O anything except it isn't a letter!
I've never worked in the Callers (thank god), if I did you'd soon hear about it.
"POSTIE GOES POSTAL" would be the headlines. Luckily our guy is quite good and has done it for years but they can't get anyone to cover his holidays for more than a week, I wonder why?
We have had in the past, numerous 'coaching' sessions in WTL on the correct way to fill out P739 cards but it doesn't last. Maybe those who constantly fill them out incorrectly should be sentenced to a few weeks in the "Room of Doom", that'd be better than explaining the same thing to them every 6 months. Some are really thick, but I think that most of the culprits just don't care as they are not the ones facing the irate customer.

as our office shuts at 12-30 now and this seems to be a national thing then why don't they put the days of the week down with a box next to them, so all we have to do is cross the box, to tell them when to come for it, as i don't get back to the office till after it shuts so what is the point in putting collect in x number of hours? getting a bit sick of writing collect next day on it

everyone should go in the callers for a while it's a eye opener, our DOM hates going in will do anything to avoid it, the great british public for ya!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

739's are OK it us morons that don t fill them out correctly.

I think there are two things that could change.

I think every 739 thats comes in and is filled out incorrectly should be photocopied and the culprit just advised to do a better job. An d on another slightly different note. When some one askes for a re-delivery and is not in for it, that should be the end of it. A 739 should have a tick box stating something like:

' You asked for an item to be re-delivered today but you were not in to receive it. Whats the matter with you you f***ing idiot.'

What do you think?
