Re: New tracked with pin number
With the increased number of parcels and the unwillingness of some customers to even get a storage box/unit this all points to yet more mail being failed and taken back to the office.

I get that it’s to cut down on fraudulent denial of receipt claims but it’s going too far in my opinion, GPS/photo should be enough.kazardaimenu wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 21:32Used to be able to just hand someone a parcel and job done. Now it’s photo this sign that what’s your date of birth, mothers maiden name and sort code or you can’t have that pair of trainers you ordered from sports direct.
Personally I’d target those making the claims and have a 2 strikes and you’re out system. It’s happened to us all, you don’t realise a family member has taken a parcel….but those denying it’s arrived even though you remember passing it to them, and then you see the packaging in their recycling, those are the ones who should get one chance and then after that they are not welcome to use the Royal Mail system for parcels and anything they subsequently order will be returned. Would be quite easy to setup an alert on the PDA telling you to return it to sender.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

That's probably illegal under the Postal Services ActHTPostman wrote: ↑17 Mar 2025, 09:17Personally I’d target those making the claims and have a 2 strikes and you’re out system. That's the kind of challenge this company can rise to!

Maybe if they make a dodgy claim they have to use a PIN number in the future.

I'm sure it has nothing with the Amazon/Evri "Doorstepping" that's rife now with a huge element of afternoon DPR style drivers

All courier companies have been told to do it by the companies employing them because of increased claims for goods not received. I blame the increasingly crooked customers trying it on.kazardaimenu wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025, 21:32Used to be able to just hand someone a parcel and job done. Lol. I blame Royal Mail trying to play catch up with the courier businesses, not realising all the other s**t posties do and they have now basically destroyed their own reputation along the way. Bravo RM!LouBarlow wrote: ↑18 Mar 2025, 17:32All courier companies have been told to do it by the companies employing them because of increased claims for goods not received. Re: New tracked with pin number
Given the limited number of parcels asking for pin no's I assume RM are just following Amazon etc to remain competitive with them.

This is what market liberalisation hath wrought. As Evri 'employees', for example, are paid per item delivered (not carried) then it is delivered regardless or else they eat the loss. Evri creates the conditions for malpractice. I hear the term 'low trust society' bandied about a lot - well, here it is.
My head is going to spin when I find an Amazon PIN packet in my york.

Evri? it's Amazon too...They both doorstep everything as does virtually every courier nowadays. The only one I have found that doesn't is Argos.Mr Rush wrote: ↑19 Mar 2025, 00:40This is what market liberalisation hath wrought. This is why managers press us to be quicker....to force us to doorstep. If Royal Mail don't doorstep we have no chance in competing.
The fact that managers never pull anyone up for doorstepping, again implies that is what they want you to do. They only pull you up if something goes missing....which rarely ever happens.
If a manager took a look at all the photos on doorsteps from the day, what % of the whole office's photographs would have been take correctly - I'd say 20% max.

Re: New tracked with pin number
RMtv today
We've recently launched a new pin on delivery product.
This service will initially be available to limited number of trapped 24 48 customers.
Recipients will receive a unique pin via SMS text message and or email, and the Postie will enter the pin provided by the customer into the PDA when making a delivery. This feature will add an extra layer of security to the delivery process.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: New tracked with pin number
In that scenario surely the only reason Royal Mail would refund the customer is if it was a Tracked item and the photo was taken incorrectly without the door open before handing it to the customer. The customer could lie that they have not received it and get a refund.HTPostman wrote: ↑17 Mar 2025, 09:17Personally I’d target those making the claims and have a 2 strikes and you’re out system.
