A newbie question
Hiya can i ask if someone can clear this up for me, once ive finished my round, rather than going back to the d/o before it shuts can i hand my unsigned for specials & recorded items to the closest post office?
If so do i just get them to sign my white slip or do they take it?, any info will be greatly appreachated.

Thanking you.
Im going to ask the worst question in the world now, how and what do i do to pouch off?
Its just im busting a gut each day trying to get done and back to d/o to sign them back in, i had a 'coach' (which i use the word lightly) on my first week but they were more concerned about getting off early and go the 3 days of the g.national

Hi Make sure that you get your card signed and stamped at the post office as I had trouble when they mislaid the special item the only thing that was in my favour was that the person,s stamp and their signiture .ghostgirl wrote:I just take them to post office - specials need to be signed for by the post office on your card and cannot be pouched off, recorded don't need to be signed for and can be pouched off.

never had to get a post office stamp, surely their name and signature is good enough and from my training paperwork it just says get it signed for no mention of stamp, but i will check tomorrow...
To pouch off - have you been issued with a blue pouch - if so then all items you don't deliver i.e parcels, recorded, and any other mail goes into this at the end of you shift after you have endorsed it, but not specials, make sure it has your walk number and delivery office in the see through window at the front of pouch then you can either hand the pouch in at post office or if it will fit in mail box then it can be posted in there, it should then arrive back at your frame the next day.

When you hand in a special at a PO then either a signature next to the endorsememt of F/L or the official stamp of that PO (or both together) is fine, in my area all are recognised.
Actually as I have a PO on my walk and they have their own Specials I get them to sign their own, and stamp the Form Left ones, saves confusion later on.
Some areas dont have pouch off bags, mine does, but as I pass the same PB 4 times I dont see the point of carrying undelierable mail round all the time so I just endorse it (eg B/U TBT 09/04 ZZ10) and put it in the PB clean. If your area doesn't check with your "coach" or workmates to see what the local arrangement is.

Sorry I didn't realise some areas don't have pouch off bags, I thought every area was the same, although now you say we don't have Pouch drop boxes - whatdoes B/U and TBT mean I don't mean to sound stupid but i've never used these endorsementsTrueBlueTerrier wrote:When you hand in a special at a PO then either a signature next to the endorsememt of F/L or the official stamp of that PO (or both together) is fine, in my area all are recognised.

TBT in this case is my initials as in TrueBlueTerrier (of course I endorse with my real initials)
B/U = Boarded Up - my round is a council estate and they keep boarding up some of the houses, in one case just for 3 days before they opened it up again.
I also use
GL = Gate Locked
DL = Dog Loose
TNA = Temporary No access (something blocking the path that I should not move and cant get around ie full bin )
REF = Refused
G/A = Gone Away
U/K = Unknown at this address

Thanks TrueBlueTerrier, I don't use most of these if one of my houses are boarded up i normally just write 'boarded up' and endorse with my initials and date, but I will use these now i know themTrueBlueTerrier wrote:TBT in this case is my initials as in TrueBlueTerrier (of course I endorse with my real initials)

TrueBlueTerrier has given an example of endorsing above, do you put recorded and special packets in pouch without endorsing them - specials should NOT go into the pouch because they need a signature at the PO or DO and all mail should be endorsed if not delivered for any reason or they will accuse you of wilful delay i think it is.NewPostieUK wrote:What does 'endorse' mean? I just put the packets in the pouch and drop it off at the Post Office. No forms. no signatures.
