‘Last chance’ postal service talks

Talks today between Polish postal workers and management have been described by the leading trade union as a ‘last chance’ before further action by employees is taken.



Leader of the Polish postal trade unions’ negotiator, Pawel Jedrzejewski, says that Post Office employees have been disappointed with the mediator in the negotiations held with the management and are likely to refuse to use his services again.



Jedrzejewski stressed that trade unions and employees are willing to continue negotiations to come to a satisfactory agreement with the Post Office Management Board, but has warned that a round of talks between the parties in the conflict scheduled for today may be a ‘last chance’ meeting before
industrial action.



Since January, the Polish Post Office employees have been demanding a pay rise of 700 zlotys a month each, but have only been offered 350 zlotys so far. (mj)
