Nothing difficult about cutting a workforce down to meet profit targets i.e what :lfo as done at RM what would be hard work (not impossiable) would be to keep the workers and improve services and products.the big boys have to make muti million pound decisions every day effecting thousands of employees when you have more you have more to lose which is why they are much more likely to have breakdowns, broken marriages and on and on......

So your happy with what you get?? Are you also going to be happy when you're getting less for more work?? As the great philosopher Bilko said 'A fair weeks pay for a far days work'.Night Tonic wrote:Put your own foot in it through that statement. We're paid plenty for what we do anyway. If you want more than an unskilled job pays, then learn a skill.

I find your statements truly stomach turning . Up and down this country honest hard working people are striving under very difficult conditions to provide the best service they can. Day in day out they sweat and sometimes bleed for RM,yet constantly they get told they are underworked and over rewarded.Their conditions ,standard of living and retirement benefits, are being slashed and all you seem to want to do is belittle and undermine them, trotting out the stale old mantra ,"if you don't like it leave"How did you get so twisted? Where did your sense of decency and common humanity go? Do you sleep well? Whats in it for you?Night Tonic wrote:Put your own foot in it through that statement. If you are tempted to answer any of the above, please consider that the cause you champion so eagerly is causing real hardship and distress to many real families.

I agree with you Belial, he is just churning out all these old , tired comments. i see our roadsweeper outside my house everyday, doing a good job keeping our streets clean , improving the quality of my life and everyone elses, i guess no one pays him a thought doing this menial unskilled job. maybe in Night Tonics world we would do away with all the unskilled people because lets face it thay have no value.BELIAL wrote:I find your statements truly stomach turning . You think 1 day a week is working hard?
I didn't say that he didn't do any work. I said that he runs 4 or 5 Businesses, and that he takes existing ones, and makes huge cuts to make them profitable.cantypeANDSHOUTS wrote:well at least there one sensible person who has put his finger right on it again...well done night tonic...Night Tonic wrote:Because in the real world, more is never enough and if yours went up, so would everyone elses. If it was doubled you'd still want more. If you really want more than an unskilled job then train, learn. This isn't and never will be a marxist state.
there the idiots(tbt its only an insult if its not true)go again..so i should refuse pay rises till its a wage of knuckle dragging....wrong if you and your cronies get a wage increase for being as difficult as possible then im taking one to do a much better job..
again you didnt answer my previous question just rumbled on with your 18th century rhetoric .
how much is your job worth...tell us so we all know....when is it enough?
you and i and night tonic know the answer full well...it will never be enough after all if it was what else could you moan about....
another idiot said we work harder than the big boys do....just signing their bonus cheque.....idiots...do you really believe this????????you cycle or walk for 3 hrs a day and think your hard done by..
the big boys have to make muti million pound decisions every day effecting thousands of employees when you have more you have more to lose which is why they are much more likely to have breakdowns, broken marriages and on and on......
please how much is your job worth please tell me so we can just ask for that amount and shut you muppets up.
Do YOU think that anyone can pay enough attention to that many Businesses to run them properly?
I also stated that there are others, who have EARNED their fortunes. They have done so, by starting off small, and building up their Companies through hard graft. I respect people like that. I may not like their methods (Bill Gates in particular), but I can't help respecting the fact that they have shown others what is possible if you put the effort in.
Leighton, on the other hand. Takes existing Businesses, milks them for all they're worth, and makes them profitable by cutting their capabilities, and Customer Support. Can you honestly defend such an attitude?
If you want more examples of grafters, who became rich from their efforts. Just look for them. There are plenty out there!
As for what I think the job is worth: I think that we had good wages last year, and that we should simply be allowed to maintain that standard of living. Even though I am bitterly dissapointed that we are going to have to "tighten our belts" significantly, by the time we next get to the point where we can negotiate a fresh pay rise. I know that there is little that we can do about it now, as asking for a rise above inflation when the time comes, would bring derision from the Press, and people with your attitude to us.
Some time ago, I pointed out to you, that if we all had the wages of 10 years ago, we would be lucky to keep a roof over our heads. You have yet to prove me wrong.

It is acutely disappointing to find that so many opportunities and resources still depended on where people lived. "Wide and persisting inequality is reflected in big differences between 'rich' and 'poor' areas in terms of housing, education and health care as well as economic wealth.''
People in the poorest neighbourhoods with the greatest needs are often the least likely to have access to services and support that would help them "improve their lives and life chances"
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, young people are more likely to obtain good qualifications if their parents' generation, aged 40 to 45, is also well qualified.
Geographical location, as well as qualifications, can influence the chances of obtaining a well-paid job. High-status jobs are concentrated in London and the South-East. In areas where such jobs are relatively rare, there are higher proportions of people with good qualifications in low-status jobs.
Daily working hours are linked to geographical regions. In areas with low unemployment, people who have jobs are more likely to work longer hours than those with jobs in high employment areas. But this may affect their health, contributing to the cycle of inequality, because poorer people have less access to health care.
