I already give a lot back in my spare time including running two football teams for youngsters and I've worked with children with learning difficulties for the best part of 37 years. The point I'm making is that there is a good proportion on here (though not all) that seem to feel that life owes them something and come the revolution it will all change. Well, you could hang around for that I suppose, but each year you get one year older.

It is NEVER too late to change careers and there are no shortage of opportunities for those willing to knuckle down and do something else in life. Even if you struggle with reading (and many posties I work with lack basic qualificatons),there are so many initiatives now to get you on a career with more prospects. If I were a young man, I'd be seeing what else I could do, not spending each day whinging about my lot. Life is too short and this business WILL keep changing.

no this is not a marxist state but it is a capitalist state, and capitalism relies on exploitation regardless of what job you partake in.we are all exploited by the wages system, capitalism does not and cannot operate in the interests of labour or if you like -the working class. the fact that a train driver earns 30 k or indeed our goodselves the postie who earns 18k is irrelevent, because they both live their lifes and raise their children under the same conditions of insecurity and within the constraints of relative poverty [ compared to someone earning 50k or 100k ] , which are the inevitable consequence of the capitalist class system. for example, if the banking system does indeed collapse the train driver , postie etc, well we are all stuffed . many people deny the reality of class interests and class struggle, but the fact is that capitalists only employ workers when they expect to make a profit and lay them off as redundant when the rigour of competition makes this appropiate. now i dont expect a revolution too soon, and if you think i am whinging about my lot , so be it , but exploitation of the workers for a profit is fact and is alive and kicking today in year 2008.

I think we have got it in us. When posites start looking at their wages and see the money they will lose because of the tax changes they will not be too happy and that the pay and modernisation agreement was a waste of time because some of us are actually experiencing a wage decrease than a wage increase. Now you can see why the pay deal of 6.9% is a waste of time because many of us stand to lose more from our wages and pensions.

Capitalism does not inherently exploit, well no more so than communism, socialism, or any other ism. Humans exploit. If capitalism, democracy or any other system was implmented in it's true form then we would be alright. Free market works as long as no-one puts in place protectionism. For example America promotes the free market throughout the world via institutions such as the World bank and IMF (International Monetary Fund) yet has some of most severe protectionist policies in the world.

The whole class war struggle etc... is a thoery dremat up by acadmeics just like capitalism or anything else is.

No system ever invented has prevented one human potentially exploiting another.

The safest way of avoiding exploitation by those nasty fat cats is to become self-sufficient. You then become the master of your own destiny by only producing and consuming what you need rather than what you want.
