I doubt if we've cleared the office a dozen times since about a year before Covid became a thing. Probably only 75% of our "shared" van duties actually have 2 people on them on any given day, and singleton/rural duties are simply failed if the duty holder is on holiday. They usually drag somebody off another duty on the Wednesday to have a go at 3 days worth of stuff, and then fail the duty for the rest of the week until the poor incumbent sap returns from leave the following Monday. Management failure to staff the office properly and refusing OT to willing parties ensures a permanent backlog of mail rammed into frames in my unit.
