Could InPost take Yodel?

Currently rumoured in the City and reported in the national press, including the Sunday Times, Yodel is being considered as a logical add-on to its UK operations by InPost. InPost is understood to have made an investment into Yodel in order to maintain the working partnership between the parcel delivery services provider and its parcel lockers service.

As widely reported, Yodel has had a difficult period with an abortive rescue by Shift, a subsequent takeover by Mike Hancox, CEO of Yodel with the support of Independent Growth Finance and Paypoint, and 2024 peak demand exceeding its capacity to the point where it had no option other than to turn business away.

There is a considerable way to go for any takeover to be concluded but the InPost option appears, at least, to have ‘legs’.
