If the union is serious about fatigue, then delivery Monday parcels Tuesday delivery Wednesday etc would be better than doing a full week of delivery.

That would double the number of staff required. There's no way that RM would only deliver parcels every other day, they'd lose contracts left, right & centre

You misunderstand, 2 posties would be alternating.

Won't the parcels ones always need to be drivers?

Most people are drivers, the unions idea is to drive 1 week and walk the next, mine is to rotate daily.

Ayr and Girvan DO uso trials
3 posties cover 4 duties
2 cover 2 whole duties with everything
All mail (can be 3 days worth 2nd class and DSA
And over 75% d2d on monday
1 postie will cover 2 driving duties with 1st class and all pkts and trackeds 2nd class where your attending with 1st class
If they have time they help other 2
Drivers rotate duties walking mans on double treble mail every weekday
Walking man also to work every other sat inside
Prepping d2ds and mail /packets
At present we cant manage 2 days mail in 1 frame if someones off
What could possibly go wrong

So I take it that this means when the mail is being delivered- 2 or 3 days worth-they’ll be virtually no small packets as the driver who will take the tracked/ 1st class will take them?

Nope, the driver does the packets on the 2 walks that aren't going out.

If everyone’s off every other Saturday what other day do you have off? Rotate week days?

The more I think about this, the more I think just do it and let it crash and burn.
It's not our idea.
For God's sake though, people really now ought to be thinking how their actions are going to affect the outcome.
Van checks, meal reliefs, do the job correctly, trolleys, don't start early, don't rush round.
I'm not saying make sure it doesn't work, I'm saying don't help it to work.
Even if it does, they'll be back for more.

If it doesn’t work out the company can come back looking for a further reduction to the USO. I shouldn’t think it will be more than 2 or 3 years until they do that anyway quoting that mail has dropped further. This is just the beginning imo.

Yep.
I really think we shouldn't be worrying about all this.
Just accept the job isn't what it used to be.
Those that still have and want the job will still get to work in the outdoors for most of their working day- which at the end of the day is what what we all like best.

A few questions.
How do days off work? Floaters etc?
How many first class letters do the drivers take over two duties? How much less staff needed? Do you think it will work OK.
