Trial Offices and beyond
So with all this talk of the USO, wage parity, Sunday working, restructuring, levelling up, new "trials" , business earnings losses etc, where do we as the employee actually stand?
If you ask me we have been on a downward spiral towards our so called "competitors" Amazon/Evri for the last 7 or 8 years now and that has been the goal for the RM board since privatisation. These people are self employed GIG economy workers, they are classed as self employed, they cost Amazon/Evri nothing in revenue other than the 'supervisor' wages and warehouse rent they pay in the sorting hubs.

Everyone is forgetting one thing, before anything can be implemented it still has to go through parliament

Re: Trial Offices and beyond
It doesn’t. Ofcom can change legislation for the optimised delivery model that Royal Mail are asking for without parliament. Would only have to go through parliament if it were to be a reduction in delivery days. By keeping 1st class 6 days a week parliament won’t be involved.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑03 Feb 2025, 05:25Everyone is forgetting one thing, before anything can be implemented it still has to go through parliament

Re: Trial Offices and beyond
It has been well demonstrated for at least the last 5 or 6 years, that parliament/government do not give a sh!t about the USO.
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

The failure to have a plan for singleton duties under ODM suggests franchising is on the agenda. Anyway until the takeover nothing changes. Then look out.Londonsburning wrote: ↑02 Feb 2025, 17:10So with all this talk of the USO, wage parity, Sunday working, restructuring, levelling up, new "trials" , business earnings losses etc, where do we as the employee actually stand?

...yet. I think it will be high up on the agenda once DK takes over and letters are rejected/priced out the business in the next year or two.

I listened to a radio programme a few years ago now. It was full of CEO's, big business guys. Their preferred method of contact was by snail mail as it left no electronic trail. Nothing to see here... That's worth it.

Name one positive thing that has happened for a delivery postie in an OPG position in the last 10 years then. Every decision made about this job has been detrimental to us the frontline employee. I can't think of one benefit.chickenwittle wrote: ↑03 Feb 2025, 21:41Doom and gloom merchants everywhere.Londonsburning wrote: ↑03 Feb 2025, 17:10...yet. Re: Trial Offices and beyond
Not one thing. Nothing. And this is going exactly the same way. Try modelling your office on ODM. Without major upheaval it won't work and even then it doesn't work. Everyone full time on 9 day fortnights results in massive over resourcing. You can't do a Wallington under ODM and if you could you'd be looking at 50 hours plus weeks. 1 in 6 rotating doesn't work. Most offices are looking at a 50% surplus on a Saturday. 9 day fortnights are not going to give 50% more Saturdays off. Walsh is talking bollocks.Londonsburning wrote: ↑04 Feb 2025, 01:00Name one positive thing that has happened for a delivery postie in an OPG position in the last 10 years then. The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
