Yes, I don’t understand this either. Adding JoinedUp availability seems to make little to no difference. I actually have a reasonable ‘hit rate’ from answering the emergency emails but makes it very difficult to plan in advance as there’s often just a couple of hours notice between the email and the shift starting or even less.

I’ve had emails for shifts starting in 5-10 minutes, you’d have to be camped out at the mail centre itself to be able to answer that one.

It has always been a problem. The old way, 10 mins phone call from a text, was pretty tedious but usually you got shifts if you got through.
This putting your availability up sometimes seems pointless with the general messages going out. So a change but no better solution.
My advice on this zero hour short notice contract is aim low and use it as a fill in job.
