Re: LTB 398/24 – USO Pilots
You can see after 2 or 3 months RM saying they need to roll the pilot out to more offices, as I can't see the pilot lasting 6 months at just 37 DO's/MC's.

Are all the duties in these offices going to be made smaller to accommodate 2 days mail

I wonder how they picked the DOs. Someone is responsible for this utter shambles and they should be held accountable for itted_e_bear wrote: ↑31 Dec 2024, 14:28From another thread on the subject

They were picked to make sure the pilot didn’t only happen at that office somewhere down south where everything works.claretandblue wrote: ↑04 Jan 2025, 07:14The union picked most of them.Londonsburning wrote: ↑03 Jan 2025, 21:56I wonder how they picked the DOs. So once we have vans scooting about on Saturdays just to pull up to an address to stick a single first class letter through the door, will the oh-so-important carbon footprint that axed our domestic air transport be dutifully reflected on the letters the same way all the parcel labels boast how little CO2 we emit compared to our competitors?
A long question with a short answer.

Well, one of the main reasons why RM said that our start and finish times were being pushed back was due to the removal of flights and transporting everything via road. But does it make sense to use all these lorries everyday if the bulk of the mail isn't actually going out? Surely if they really wanted to reduce CO2 emissions and also save on costs both on transport and processing then they would send a lorry every other day and we could then be starting earlier.
The only issue is that 1st class letters would also be delivered every other day as well, and I agree, it doesn't really make any sense to drive round delivering a handful of 1st class letters.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Do you really think you'll be doing those first class letters after OFCOM have agreed to their changes

Re: LTB 398/24 – USO Pilots
This has got cluster f*cl written all over it , the office nearest me that's doing it hasn't cleared in years and throwing this in the mix will make it worse. I bet by the end of the first week in nearly every office in the trial no one knows what's meant to be getting delivered.
This is just a sticking plaster on a gaping wound , they're only doing this because parliament don't have to agree to the changes. In reality we all know mon to Fri letters and parcels only on Saturday and Sunday is the best way to reform the USO.

Nobody. They'll be left in the frame to save time and it'll be parcels only. The only reason they're saying they'll do them is to avoid the changes going through a parliamentary bill and the time that will takeoypostie wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 5:42,pm

Re: LTB 398/24 – USO Pilots
I thought the idea was to use 4 posties to cover what is currently covered by 6. (And even less on Saturday)
A 30 to 35% reduction in staffing levels?
Consequently these offices (even if they are currently understaffed) will be overstaffed during the trials.
Failures I assume will be minor if they are allowed to happen at all.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
