Not a problem at all, I'm on the exact same contract as you apart from 30 hours not 40 and Monday to Saturday.
I'm more than happy with what I get as it's about £3.50ph more than other driving jobs out there at the moment and understand the point you are making.
How can it be £3.50ph more than other driving jobs. £12.54ph less £3.50 would take the hourly rate down to £9.04 an hour. That would be illegal.
Think they're on the London rate of £14.87 which of course doesn't apply to most of the country

I'm not on £12.54ph I'm on £14.87

Just checked one job, that pays £11.53, Asda paying £12.04

The majority of the country is on £12.54 for new contract, £14.87 is the London rate, presumably you're London area ?

Parcels were through the roof today.
Yep, must have been 10,000 again. Once more, to provaricate: the prepping of letters may have come across as a futile exercise today.

This thread has been derailed by posts about pay. Please create a new thread about pay and post there. This thread is about parcels through the roof.

Yes parcels through the roof for a few weeks now. Add that to 5 hour+ walks and you get what we have. Many walks doing no mail or 2-3 loops maximum a day. Mail backing up in frames and trays. Lots of sickness too. It's a bit of a mess and probably won't catch up until after Christmas now.

Preach

Our FIRST mech and parcels didn't get to our office until 8:15 this morning. We're usually out and on the road by 9:15.

Our wagons are getting later by the week. God only knows why.

Still pretty busy on parcels and January is usually a quieter month…

Quieter yesterday then very busy today on a shorter day, left some letters in to get 80 tracked plus some non tracked on a single duty. Just when you think it’s calming down

People spending money or vouchers they got for Xmas. Think once we get to the end of January we'll see a massive drop-off in packets, once people's credit card bills start coming in

When I came in at 08.45 posties were still sorting yorks and yorks of packets.
I was not told not to deliver my mail and only deliver Tracks :whistle

One walk on my section had 150 tracked and 50 specials

Chaos for us today too. I did 163 tracked, plus a load of specials, cust collects, boxes, etc. The office still wasn’t clear of Tracked even when I got back at 3.30 pm. Maybe the volume is here to stay?

The last few January 3rds up here (for the 2nd is a holiday in Scotland) have exceeded any Peak day. The first time I saw pretty much every frame untouched was memorably unusual, but you can get used to anything. I like to regale new starts with stories about how the office used to clear every day until the Permacrisis began.
