It was explained to us that the Gio-route software measures each yard from the door of a property to the middle of the road and then to the next door. This is why local input is essential as only the postie on the duty knows where the doors are. The 8 seconds apparently is added in to allow you to be stationary and is averaged out to allow waiting for signatures and the door being opened.stevo302 wrote:8 Secs per DP... what do they think every house in the UK is a terraced house by the pavement.
Even 30 seconds is a bit of a dream with the drives and gates i deal with.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I've only 456 addresses on mine, but it still takes 3-3.5 hours depending on how heavy it is. On the lightest of light days it takes 3 hours, but any heavier and it's nearer 3.5 hours. Mainly flats, lots with individual doors, steps, top floors, basements etc. Up and down and round the same hill. One of the worst in my office and a part time walk. LOL
It can take me anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes per call depending on mail, packet or recorded deliveries/special deliveries. There is no way I could complete the delivery using the proposed changes. Luckily my rep has thrown out the pegasus revision due in August as there is no National Agreement on its implementation.

I can only speak about what gioroute has meant to our office, that is cuts!
as usual management made all the usual noises, not a cost cutting measure, might get more hours! will be back after it's been in and sort any outstanding issues
not seen them since and have taken hours out of the office
the question must be if there is no national agreement as i have heard a few times from different sources then why are we implementing it before we get one?

Im on a rural delivery with 350+ del points. Pegasus/georoute says , so our manager informed me, that I can complete my delivery within 3hrs 57 mins. More like 5&half hrs on a 'light day' and anything between 6-7 hrs on a heavy day (most days).
'In Greek mythology, Pegasus (Greek: Πήγασος, Pégasos, 'strong') was a winged horse that was the son of Poseidon, in his role as horse-god, and the Gorgon Medusa'
Perhaps they think this is what we use to deliver the mail.
IMO pegasus sucks
