My comment was really about the probable difficulty in getting that Aldi shelf stacking job. There are 100s going for each job because there are so few available.NWpostie wrote: ↑18 Dec 2024, 13:41It was a ballpark figure not intended to 100% accurate I knocked off income tax, NI, pensions and other sundry deductions.Jefferson Starfish wrote: ↑18 Dec 2024, 11:52£424 after tax and ni, minus other deductions like pension, etc.NWpostie wrote: ↑18 Dec 2024, 10:13Picking £13 as a median figure you could be looking at a basic wage for 38 hours a week of £494 basic then after tax and other deductions you could looking at a take home of £355, not much really still better than nothing.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑18 Dec 2024, 06:29Just had a quick look at the Aldi jobs site and the going rate for a store assistant is £12.40-£13.35 per hourIva bigredbag wrote: ↑17 Dec 2024, 22:01Give me a break, stacking shelf's at Aldi pays better than this job now.
Simply getting to the stage after the online application form is an achievement.

Can’t imagine why anybody thinks a Supermarket job is the Holy Grail.I worked at Sainsbury’s before Royal Mail, the pay is no better, the hours can be rubbish, and you have to constantly deal with customers.

who are nicking stuff left right and centre.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Martin Walsh has said they have agreed with RM that VRs will be 1 years pay instead of 9 months

Has there been a timescale mooted for these VR's? I was thinking of going October/November next year so this could pan out nicely with a bit of luck if I'm flexible on dates

Re: Best Deal for those wanting Out .
No 3 or 4 day USO, so a 5 day USO, although they seem to have not been specific on what day gets dropped. Say it is Saturday as before, they need 40-50% of staff in to do parcels only. How is this decided, on seniority?
Before they even think about introducing this 'method change' they are talking about for 2nd class (every second day), they need to equalise the routes people deliver on as well as fix the ones that currently have 2000 points on a shared van etc. Do what it takes, bring in an outside company if need be to analyse the mail volumes, parcel volumes, topography etc for current routes. The current ones who create routes have shown they are unable to do it.

The alternate days delivery method is going to be properly trialled in a variety of different office types to see what the impact is on among other things, fatigue. If your new method quickly leads to knackered staff, you aren’t going to be able to shed as many staff as you imagined.Perseus wrote: ↑18 Dec 2024, 18:24No 3 or 4 day USO, so a 5 day USO, although they seem to have not been specific on what day gets dropped.
