There is no national agreement on pegasus so if you dont wish to use it then just say NO Thank You.All revisions should be done by the table top method using local knowledgedisgruntledpostie1 wrote:The CWU should really have worked out a set of rules and set them on concrete not letting us work things out in individual offices.linkinpark wrote:We were told that it was 9 seconds per house the f*cking liars.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:We were told that it was 8 seconds per DP30 seconds per delivery point

So why is it being used if there is no agreement?? The union really need to get their act together and start fighting for us otherwise we will end up leaving it out of pure frustrationjohnnypick wrote:There is no national agreement on pegasus so if you dont wish to use it then just say NO Thank You.All revisions should be done by the table top method using local knowledgedisgruntledpostie1 wrote:The CWU should really have worked out a set of rules and set them on concrete not letting us work things out in individual offices.linkinpark wrote:We were told that it was 9 seconds per house the f*cking liars.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:We were told that it was 8 seconds per DP30 seconds per delivery point

It can be used as a revision planning tool to assist in building walks or as a replacement system for A plus But if you dont like what comes out of it then dont use it.I must admit it is a handy little tool to have but Must have the right infomation put in to it along with a decent call rate and walking speeds, and that is where the problem lies,Royal Mail want a low call rate and a faster walking speed, suprise suprise.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:So why is it being used if there is no agreement?? 8 seconds at the door wouldn't be unrealistic over an average walk but I think the average of 30 seconds includes the walk between then - hence an average walk on an average day would be approx 400 houses = 200 minutes = 3 hours 20 + pouching off time. This varies if there are more or less of certain types of housing or a percentage of businesses included, which is why a table top revision with support by knowledgeable staff would ultimately do a better job for us than PEGASUS.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:We were told that it was 8 seconds per DP30 seconds per delivery point

We actually have been pushing for a Pegasus revision at our office because we have up to 30 supernumery contracted hours already, and most duties going over nearly every day due to longs and shorts. All offices in our area are scheduled Pegasus revisions, but ours isn't until April 2009 at the earliest. Management won't give us a Pegasus revision now because they know it will say we need 1 or 2 extra duties! Not sure why they think our tabletop revision will be any different...

I am the rep at Rhino's office and went on the Pegasus/ Georoute CWU course. What I learned there is that Pegasus is a brilliant tool, if its done properly. It actually allows for 6 seconds at each door and calculates properly the time taken getting to each letterbox as long as the correct information has been put in. It also takes into account terrain, again as long as the correct information is put into it. I have spent a large chunk of this week going to each and every postman/woman and making sure that their walk logs are up to date. Making sure that all security doors are listed, all low letter boxes, all gravel paths anything at all that slows them down on an average day. Flights of stairs are a real time killer! This is information that should be put in the A-Plus system which is ultimately what the pegasus revision will be calculated on.
I have also got the DOM to sign an agreement saying that I will be present for the entire Pegasus process and that the delivery people will be consulted on every aspect of what happens to the walks. It is important within this process that the delivery person mentions how many packets they tend to get for specific roads as it all adds up in the pegasus master plan. Oh and have your DOM's put pouch boxes in yet? If not then the travelling time is also taken into account within Pegasus, once again reducing walks if necessary. Walking up hill? Hey presto another walk!
As you can see I am being pedantic about the whole Pegasus system, and I see that if it gets done properly then we will likely gain walks, and I add that if it isn't done properly then they will simply not get an agreement. All I can say to all offices that are going through the process, make sure that it is done thoroughly the way that I am trying. Fix the errors caused by SDD and give everyone a fair crack at having a decent, doable duty that isn't a couple of hours longer than the guy's on the frame next door.
The next step for me after all this is to show how much money people are giving back to RM by coming in early and not taking their breaks, I'm sure they will understand when they end up with work from the walks done by people doing the job properly when we review pegasus after 3 months.

I'm a rep too and have done C.W.U Pegasus course. Sounded to me like a good tool if fed with proper info but as expected when I got back to my office have never been able to look at the system. All walks entered into system have been done at settings worlds apart from C.W.U criteria as R.M planner admitted. Just told him to stuff it then. Until it was done as we wanted then non-negotiable.
