You see, what a site, who'd of thought someone like johnnypick would do 'biffing' especially in the area he works,Clapham and i presume it's near the common.
Bit of a london joke that with clapham common, put it this way, when george michaels in town that's near where he stays
There's so much on this site that we've learnt about each other from all over the UK,it's a bit of fun thread
Even 'over the road' mentions the 'light hearted banter' on here.Although that may change with this thread thinking about it.
So we're a shabbing,boiling,slamming,dogging,soaking,slippin,jostleing,mailsort dumpin record breakerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs
I thank you.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. To me a letter is a letter. If I looked I could probably tell if it's first or second class, but I have no idea what mailsort looks like lol
I'm often finding letters that were for streets I was at half an hour ago. If it's near I'll go and post it, if it's not I'll go back at the end of my walk.
It wouldn't enter my mind not to post a letter that I took out. Well, it probably will now, since you lot even have names for doing it.

No wonder I'm claiming overtime every single day.
I'd just like to point out that if do get caught doing this (it's called willful delay of the mail), you could be sacked.
Also, every office or area does have a name for it but I'd like to point out that it's only ever mentioned in jest....
Not everybody who reads this forum is a postie...customers etc read it too....We don't want anybody getting the wrong impression....

"dumping" mail is a completely different kettle of fish...if you get caught dumping mail you get everything you deserve....that's the sort of s**t you read in the papers and gives all posties a bad name....
i.e. "that's the postie that dumped mail in the river"...
The title of this thread is misleading...

I thought it meant having a poo on the mail I keep getting this wrong but then I read the Sun so my level of education is slowly ebbing away.

If what they told us at the induction is true, that first class mail is not next day delivery, but has 3 days to be delivered etc, why should we get our ass kicked for with holding a letter ( due to simple mistakes ) , and maybe putting it back on the frame for a day when it's not neccesarily prioritised to arive that day? Really puzzles me that one, i do my job properly but i can tell you now i wouldn't waste 20 minutes trecking back to deliver one miss bundled letter.
I thought all offices did bag checks at random intervals to prevent this type of thing happening. Just goes to show the differences in DO's up and down the country

They'd find nothing in a bag if people are putting back on their frames, whether that's just as bad i have no idea, but i was told quite pointingly by the guy who was half coaching me to not leave anything in your bag as they'd have you for it. If it's just the odd letter , i've seen people slip them in the middle of D2D leaflets, or put them back in the miss sorts and just claim ignorance. Obviously i dare say RM would fire people for ignorance , but if they did, half our office would be out of a job.

The bag checks would be done whenever you come through the door so that there is no chance of slipping it back into the frame/missorts etc.

I spent a good 6 or 7 mins on monday getting round to deliver a missort that was for near the start of my round but ended up in my last bag. So I gets there, pop it through and feel I've done a good turn but as I'm walking away this lady comes out shouting at me 'this person doesn't live here and never has' etc sure u all know the score. What a total let down that was!!!
It's plain daft to expect us to spend 20mins at the end of our round doing a missort run esp for mailsort rubbish that is not time critical and goes usually straight in the customers bin. When all the rounds have been increased by Pegasus etc u wont have time for that anyway and can go straight back to DO with as many misssorts as u like cause you'll be over your time and they will be cut-offs. In the mean time remember not to loose your job for a mailsort, only bags can be searched not your person. If it's a 1st class u should def be going out your way to deliver it that day.

Would it not be better to claim the OT than to get sacked for bringing mail back?? Maybe it's just me but I always deliver the mail I take out whether or not I've missorted it or not.

If I have a letter or letters which has been missorted (happens quite often) and say i'm on my last bag and the letter was for my first bag and i'm not going to pass the address on my way home I usually just endorse the letter/s - M/S - and pop them into a postbox, this is how I was trained...I do however deliver them if I am passing the areas to which they belong...Sorry i'm a newbie too which is the correct procedure?

If you take out mail then it has to be delivered unless there is a valid excuse not to and a missort would not be a valid excuse. This is what I was told whenever I started and we have also had WTL talks about missorts having to be delivered. Although you could always say there was a wild elephant loose and you couldn't deliver because of it
