Union Using Door to Door Supplement as Bargaining Tool
The Union have just said on the CWU podcast that they are thinking of using the delivery door to door supplement as a way to achieve
parity for people on new contracts.
I was always in favour of people on new contracts being given the same terms and conditions but this strategy would be detrimental and wrong in a cost of living crisis.
The supplement is worth between 22-30 quid a week and for a lot of part timers on so called legacy contracts it is a necessity. Part timers on 20-35 hours need this supplement for a decent wage.
Why is the Union talking about getting a inflation busting pay rise and then admitting they are trying to take nearly a hundred plus pound a month from its members. Any pay rise gained would be a pay decrease if the supplement is taken away making their members poorer.
This is unacceptable. Parity on contracts must be achieved another way.

How many people on here constantly stating delivery supplement has nothing to do with d2d.
I've not watched it because the union for me is dead after what's happened during and since covid.
The fact they're even thinking about this is confirmation they've had it- it's desperate.
They know pretty soon new contracts will overtake old ones so what's their first thought?- let's screw over (again) all the people that have supported us in the past.
It's nauseating.

It’s not a a door to door supplement and the fact that they think it is , isn’t a surprise.

The guy who asked the question to Dave and martin didn’t even know what door to doors were.Dexydog wrote: ↑21 Nov 2024, 20:17How many people on here constantly stating delivery supplement has nothing to do with d2d.

Re: Union Using Door to Door Supplement as Bargaining Tool
Its a common name for it, and its pedantic to explain exactly what it is. But its a delivery supplement that they are negotiating to take away. No drama, no background, history or context or terminology or naming is relevant. It is money at the end of the day that members get week in week out which is being negotiated away.

It’s not pedantic and it’s relevant to the question that was asked as it was specific to new starters who do not get the delivery supplement that everyone not on the new contracts gets including those in mail centres who don’t do deliveries.reddevils wrote: ↑21 Nov 2024, 20:20Its a common name for it, and its pedantic to explain exactly what it is. Call it whatever you want, for whatever the reason it's paid.
If it gets taken away anyone on an older contract will be getting a pay cut.
Why is it even being considered?!

It would be a suicidal move from the CWU to take money away from members, there needs to be clarification on this issue very quickly before even more members withdraw from the union

I cannot believe it
No really I cannot believe it !
Gordon Benet
Someone actually listens to the CWU podcast, do you have insomnia? Clearly not as that would have cured it.
Seriously, the union are a joke, I have no idea why posties are in the CWU. A total bunch of frauds, the last deal showed us all that. Left the union so don't care, tired of paying them subs to shaft us over and over again. Might as well save my money and watch them shaft us over and over again. I suggest you follow suit.
But anyway, well done for getting through a CWU podcast without being put into a coma.

Re: Union Using Door to Door Supplement as Bargaining Tool
This is a complete misrepresentation of what we said.
We are not looking at reducing of removing the delivery supplement from anyone who currently receives it.
However for the 19 thousand new entrants which joined Royal Mail after 1st December 2022 we want a time line when they receive the supplement.
Royal Mail imposed new entrants terms and conditions the CWU have never agreed them. We want the harmonisation of their terms and conditions with the old contractss.
However to get to the same hourly rate as full timers on the old contracts it will cost an extra £2000 per year this is with the £30 delivery supplement.
We also have to add the RRIS payments which range from £5 to £35 per week and the outer and inner London weighting which is a further significant cost.
So we want the company to commit that there will be flight path to full harmonisation of new entrants contracts over two years.
Remember prior to new entrants terms and conditions new entrants did not go onto the full rate until they had been established which could be anything from 12 months to 24 months.
The harmonisation will cost over 200 million. We also want an above inflation pay rise , an increase in VR, an increase in full time jobs which all cost so agreeing a flight path is a sensible way to ending the two tier workforce.
