To share or not to share Xmas tips?

Do posties split their Xmas tips 50/50 with their van share partner? Or keep what you are given?

Just keep what you get from the customers on your loops. If you do different loops every day for some reason then split it.

Yes if you are working with a partner regularly, it’s usual to share gifts and choccies and only keep money tips that are definitely just for you, some it will be obvious that it is given as a shared tip because the customer knows both of you.

We have always had the agreement that we keep the tips we get from the loops we do. If you share the loops then it seems fairer to split though.

Yep gotta agree with this, if you work together all year and share the load you may as well share the wealth too.
Mind you if your partners a bit of a "richard head" then it all changes.

I don't van share but have a good floater who always clears. I hand them about £200 . I don't get people who are mean. I still have a fair wack after. Everyones happy.

I used to share a rural duty where we both did three days a week. All money was shared, things like chocolate, wine etc were split according to who likes what. One customer gave the other postie £40 one year. He assumed that was for both of us until the customer also gave me £40 a couple of days later. That's still my highest ever tip. I miss that round!
Had a re-sign, I lost out then a few months later my new round was absorbed so I became a reserve again for two christmases, on a different walk every day. First Christmas I was given a few things by people who didn't know I wasn't their postie. I gave them to the duty holders. Last Christmas that was down to one thing - some chocolates.
This year I'm back on a (nearly) fixed duty with a regular partner. Basically I do parcels he does letters. I fully expect to split anything we get but I'm not expecting there to be much as it's a completely different demographic to the rural I used to do. Younger people don't seem to be as tip happy as the older folk.
