Overtime explanation for a simpleton… please.

Post by Woody84 »

I’ve seen a few things posted on here and social media groups about overtime and my question is this-

If my contract is 30hrs do I get paid for any hours I go over or do I have to go over 40hrs before overtime kicks in?

I’ve seen a few things written that has me slightly confused (not difficult 😅 ), that overtime starts when you go over 40hrs, or am I reading it wrong?

Scrap that…

I think I’ve just worked it out 😂

You get paid overtime at your normal rate *until* you reach 40hrs and that is when the rate goes to overtime rate?…

Yes you’ll get x 1.25 of your usual rate after 40 hours.
