Dear Colleagues,
BRT&G Agreement – Para 6.4.1 Sick Pay – Joint Working Group
Please find attached Joint Statement and updated action plan agreed by the joint working group set up in accordance with the above agreement.
The Joint Working Group have been meeting on a regular basis since its formation in September last year and have made steady progress in identifying the causes and cost of sick absence.
We have also attached an updated action plan to bring Branches up to date with all the activities planned this year. The Group is made up of CWU Postal Executive members and Senior RM Managers.
We hope the actions will result in and bring about a sustained reduction in the overall percentage cost needed to get below the 5.5% target in order to reinstate full occupational sick pay.
Branches should know the Union is continuing to try and reach an agreement on the Attendance procedure itself where the negotiations are continuing where we are attempting to achieve the policies carried out at our recent Annual Conference. Any further progress made will of course be published in due course.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

No mention of help with workload in there for manual workers working outdoors in all weathers that are approaching retirement age that is getting stretched further away and probably will do again by whoever is the next government In order to pay for all the manifesto promises.

Is it really a mystery? Send non-ops out periodically on delivery and it should be thoroughly obvious. Clear my walk on my day off and conduct research. Win-win.

Things wouldn't be so bad if the managers sacked the one's who take the piss and abuse the sick pay we had.

They only have to look at the pattern of sickness. Got one in our office who was a repeat offender, until the changes. Had the cheek to tell me "well it had to change didn't it". There was another who always went sick, at the same time every year, just after Christmas. He was even interviewed about it, but nothing was ever done.

What do you expect to be done, if the company just dismissed him he'd probably win any unfair dismissal case as RM hadn't followed all the sickness stages before dismissing him if he was only sick once a year.heapsy wrote: ↑11 Oct 2024, 21:06They only have to look at the pattern of sickness.
