I hope before this happens which it will the CWU negotiate a agreement with Royal Mail which pays a much better overtime rate like the vast majority of company’s in this country do what thank goodness I only have a few years to go I would not recommend anybody to start work for this company don’t get me wrong I have loved my time here but what I see at my office is laughable we have never had more than 2 managers this week we have had 6.

We’re stuffed to the rafters with managers, pretendy managers and work coaches. Ludicrous really.billycat wrote: ↑20 Sep 2024, 09:15I hope before this happens which it will the CWU negotiate a agreement with Royal Mail which pays a much better overtime rate like the vast majority of company’s in this country do what thank goodness I only have a few years to go I would not recommend anybody to start work for this company don’t get me wrong I have loved my time here but what I see at my office is laughable we have never had more than 2 managers this week we have had 6.

Yep, just like every other company which uses clock systems has done since the dawn of time.funkflex55 wrote: ↑19 Sep 2024, 18:21If this is used like other companies do. Any few minutes here and there extra will be manually removed so you're not paid. Any few minutes you're late will be logged and will lead to meetings and disciplinary action. I'm not too bothered about action against lateness but it's always one way on these systems.
How naive would anyone have to be to not foresee that this was inevitably going to happen?

And they that do the ghosting still feel hard done by. I have zero sympathy for people who think it is okay to earn double to work until the same time as someone with a heavier walk.Tman wrote: ↑20 Sep 2024, 11:12Yep, just like every other company which uses clock systems has done since the dawn of time.funkflex55 wrote: ↑19 Sep 2024, 18:21If this is used like other companies do. SISO in processing is flawed. It only monitors the time your at work. What happens at work is irrelevant.
Often see people having 2 hours for lunch, when on overtime. As long as your here to clock on/off you have a green light for anything with a weak manager.

If the manager knows then all they need to is to head out and witness it, then the manager has got them bang to rights. Most managers these days are always focused on the amount of hours that they're using and the overall workrate. I see all the managers counting the work to hand at the start of each hour for each mail stream.

Yeah this is true an old job I had if you were 2 minutes late they would just take 15 minutes of your pay, looking back I wonder if thats a common thing.funkflex55 wrote: ↑19 Sep 2024, 18:21If this is used like other companies do. Which is just what it's supposed to do, just as with any clock system.
How much work you do etc is a managerial issue, and until the entire workforce has little RFID chips installed in their brains, it'll stay that way.

So if I arrive 2 mins late & i know I'm going to get docked 15 mins then I must surely be entitled to go and sit in the canteen for 13 mins as I'm not getting paid...that'll wind the Lino uprichietns wrote: ↑23 Sep 2024, 06:42Yeah this is true an old job I had if you were 2 minutes late they would just take 15 minutes of your pay, looking back I wonder if thats a common thing.funkflex55 wrote: ↑19 Sep 2024, 18:21If this is used like other companies do. You’d end up being sacked because work places that penalise every minute you are late, have zero tolerance for lateness.theargyspy wrote: ↑23 Sep 2024, 16:17So if I arrive 2 mins late & i know I'm going to get docked 15 mins then I must surely be entitled to go and sit in the canteen for 13 mins as I'm not getting paid...that'll wind the Lino uprichietns wrote: ↑23 Sep 2024, 06:42Yeah this is true an old job I had if you were 2 minutes late they would just take 15 minutes of your pay, looking back I wonder if thats a common thing.funkflex55 wrote: ↑19 Sep 2024, 18:21If this is used like other companies do. Quite so. The management will say (as ever) that the 15 minutes pay docking is penalty not a shortening of your duty span.

Been in the job over 40 years and not late once but can't see that being right, if your not getting paid, you don't work

If you arrive late, why should you be paid for the period when you weren’t at work?
It’s classed as unauthorised absence and your existing contract states somewhere that you will not be paid for unauthorised absences.
