Is Royalmail not accepting christmas casuals this year?

Post by ReeceWalkerJames »

Hi previous casual here. Every year I normally receive a priority link around late August or early September however this year seems late than usual.
Last year it came out on the 1st September and the year before was around 28th/29th August.

Yes Reece, we will need about 15-16,000 Christmas casual staff again this year.

I've been wondering the same. I've been checking multiple times a day on most days and am yet to recieve anything so this post gives me comfort that others haven't received anything yet.

Yes your right about those dates.
I had applied for Christmas Casual / "Seasonal Worker" for many years and for 3 years switched from Angard Recruitment back to Christmas Casual contract and then back onto their books in late January.
This year I am staying with Angard.

Out of interest I thought I would look to see if Christmas jobs are there to apply for and they aren't as yet.
At this time last year I had successfully done all the application, had it verified and was awaiting the offer letter (shifts/ start date).
When I did get the offer link last year I could not view the offer or get it to work and my profile was messed up. In the end after fruitless phone calls (no human) and talking to the online bot someone from head office at finally Sheffield sorted out when I was getting worried as the "accept" offer letter only held for 24 hours!
The links in all the email correspondence last year failed to work too.

My starting place, weeks ahead of the official RM advertising (mid September) was this page:
https://christmasrecruitment.royalmailgroup.com/

Currently you can only register interest for England, Wales and Scotland roles by giving them your email etc. There are currently no Christmas jobs listed using the job search box. Like you, as a former Christmas worker, I have had no email alerting me with the priority application link.

Just chatted with Holly the online bot.
During your application, please make sure you select 'Previous Seasonal Worker' when prompted to do so.

"Our applications aren't open quite yet, but you're welcome to register your interest and we'll contact you via email, when we open up applications.
Holly said To register your interest in one of our Seasonal Worker roles, https://jobs.royalmailgroup.com/lp/Chri ... Save=false (click this link) take you to the right page.
To register your interest in one of our Seasonal Worker roles, click this link and I'll take you to the right page".

As a matter of interest there have been quite a lot of new Angard agency starters in my Mail Centre across the shifts in the last 2 weeks.

Good Luck!

RM seem to be late doing a lot of stuff this year. Normally for RM staff, the sheets for applying for annual leave for the next financial year would have been sent out by now

I'm all applied and accepted my offer (i start on the 4th of November) however in the welcome hub it says in the welcome email there's a link where i should've recieved my PSP number and a link to verify my bank & tax information. Except there's no damn link and Nick the chat bot is useless.

Has anyone else recieved their PSP numbers or any link to verify tax information? On the actual RM Jobs site i was asked to enter my bank details but nothing about confirming tax information. I'm afraid this could effect me as i have another job, also one of the emails states we'll need our PSP# on day 1.

No casuals allowed at out office this Xmas, they are taking on loads of new starters instead as it’s cheaper and most will break and leave anyway.

That would explain why we've got more new starters than ever, I'm sure we've got more staff now than we have jobs for, definitely will in December when there's no leave unless a few folk go off sick

It’s £12.50 and hour vs £20+ an hour for the agency. We will have more people than we need but they are working from a formula of how many people have left over previous months. If there’s not enough work for them they will be farmed out to other offices in the area that are struggling.
