Shoes - I'm confused

So, I've my induction on Friday and start on Saturday in a delivery role.

Contract has arrived and with the payroll number I've logged into the uniform section to see what the various options are and I'm confused by the shoes.

Three options appear, Curtis soft shoes, Magnum safety boots and Magnum safety shoes.

I've read on here that its a bit of a grey area over whether you should or shouldn't be able to wear your own footwear.

If you are in delivery position are you meant to wear safety shoes or would I be able to order the Curtis soft shoes?

If I decide to wear my own footwear must they be black or is anything other than a rainbow multicolour set okay?

The shoes online aren’t the ones for a delivery role. Steel toe cap shoes would ruin your feet on delivery lol. You need to phone the number on the form on or after your first day with your payroll number and order over the phone. They take between 3 and 5 days to arrive at your office. In the mean time you can wear your own shoes. I just wore black trainers.

I've ordered my new footwear online a few weeks ago without any problems. I logged into https://detail.dimensions.co.uk/royalmail/, entered my payroll number as my username, and a password I created. If you need to register a password, contact Dimensions by calling their number. You can also ask them for advice about uniforms by emailing royalmail@dimensions.co.uk. They're pretty helpful.

The shoes I selected on their site were the RY08 - RM Easyflex Waterproof Trainer, which are pretty light for summer.

I used to wear the heavier RYQ1 - RM Waterproof Trainer Anvil for winter, and they're almost falling to pieces now.

Those ones don’t come on as a new starter until you’ve phoned and made your first order. Only the safety shoes are initially available. Think dimensions have to set it up as a delivery role as it’s not automatic. These are the ones I have too PostmanBitesDog. Tried the magnums first but couldn’t get on with them.

Ah yeah. That's right, misstmac. It's been a while since I placed my first order.

By the way, I ordered a new hi-viz vest when I posted my previous comment earlier. Dimensions has a note on the details screen for that item saying that, despite the vests showing as out of stock, go ahead and order them anyway because they're expecting loads to arrive in stock. Those vests appear worn out pretty quickly, especially when we have a pouch slung over our shoulders when we're out walking. And dogs love barking at them, too.

Are the shoes comfortable & true to size? Company issue ones I had in my current job were nasty - at least a size too big and ripped your feet to shreds - but working an open food area they were compulsory.

No idea what those three options are, non of them are the standard items available for delivery posties, personally I find the RY13 magnum Bandera trainers the best, (I think they're the widest at the front if that's something you'd require)

If I were you I'd hang off ordering for now, if you get something unsuitable it's a bit of a pain getting replacements as you'll have used up your allowance.
