So if "my" MC processed an average of 1.93 million items of mail per day in February this year, but 2.01 million per day in the same period two years ago, that's to be dismissed as BS because some posties on here say their bags are heavier?
So where does the discrepancy come from - when I started my walk 4 years ago it was 630 drops and 3 bags - now after loosing a net amount of 25 drops my walk is now 5 bags and all full on a light day.

Your figures say they are down - our backs, knees, bags and weight records (al least mine) says the exact opposite.

Anyone got an explanation.

No that simply shows that the processing staff are'nt pulling there weight and therfore should be out helping the delivery staff who are seeing ever increasing amounts of mail (of course you have a slight different angle) but the delivery staff know better than you about the volume of mail exiting the building via there bags !!!

tbt thats majic for you

It's a complete lie that the mail volumes are falling. Anybody who has worked in the job a while can tell you that.

So that big business can cut staff/costs and make themselves even more money (also it helps to keep other competitors out of your area) :arrrghhh

An old trick in business is to underestimate the amount of business available in your area so that you can keep it to yourself (and if volumes are falling then how come all the mail carriers recently have posted big profits :hmmmm I suppose that is because it's all down to everyone working less :arrrghhh )

Well Night Nurse, probably the same kind of thinking that you use to pretend you are a postie when in all probable truth you are not. So i guess we are talking agendas here, just as yours is to try and disrupt the thinking on this forum as you did on the 'p_chat' site, but of course there you were using the name that you are more commonly known by....how is life at HELLMAIL anyway

An even smaller mind than most. I have literally two years left before I retire so I'm not bothered either way but if you're dumb enough to believe that volume is going UP, then gawd help us....

Never said that and not my view. Doesn't achieve much drifting into name calling because someone doesn't agree though - just makes the poll (and the reasoning on mail volume going up) look even more ridiculous.

Ive had this row with countless brain dead screws in a DO and MC.. WLA is based buy weight and amount .. Judged by the size of a container.. IE BOX.. CAMBAN. DARLO YORK. ect.. Now i had a job where i was on the MECH BAG OPENING.. With a target every day.. With a job and knock.. (NOT NOW THO.)

Anyways.. One day after forever and a day of hitting and exceading figures wanted.. SCREW comes up and says..

"ME AND A CIVIL ENGINEER HAVE COUNTED YOUR WORK AND YOU BOOK TOMUCH FOR EACH CAMBAN..."

Now this is after the agreed amount from WLA for 1st 2nd and M/S is set. In donkeys years... This screw after 1 day testing wants to make us book work with less items on.....

We told him to piss off.. Made everything about job and knock and any trust a total joke... NO WONDER YOU ALL CRY... NEVER TRUST A SCREW!!!

CORRECT...

SEEN MANY A SCREW MAKE THE FIGURES SOME HOW FIT TO WHAT THEY WANT AND NEED!!!

Funny its a age old issue.. RM do what they want when it suits ,. But if a postie fecks up then its the hi jump for us!!!

ITS ALL ALOAD OF BOLLOX!!

out ANYWAY... I blame these two... :lfo :cfo

And of course MC managers never fiddle the figures do they? :hmmmm
The processed mail figures don't come via the MCM, they come from a WAN called ADC (Automation Data Control) direct from the machines, with a local manual collection back-up team normally made up of light duty posties and/or part-time clerical staff in case of power failures etc.

So unless the WAN has been hacked, and all 70-odd MCs back-up teams infiltrated and corrupted, and all produce the same sets of stats, the figures are correct.

Incidentally, why would any MCM understate his throughput?
More mail through= more staff= bigger budget, so if anything, they would overstate, if that were possible.

I reckon you're all correct.

Overall, mail volumes are down, as suggested by those who work in Mailcentres.

In Deliveries, mail volumes are generally up.

Why? Because there's less people doing more work - over the years, rounds are getting bigger all the time.

Yes, there will be individuals who have the same size turn who have more mail, but they'll be in the minority.

Indeed Tman, and it would make no sense to claim mail volume was down in postal companies with private shareholder either, yet they are - across the world.

And yes Geordie - makes sense.
