Mail should never be taken home and I'm afraid that he doesn't have a leg to stand on, sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but this has come up before and the result is always the same 'sacked'. He should still get the rep to try to go with him to make sure that everything is done correctly by the manager.

If the mail consisted of duds then he cannot be seen to have delayed it provided he endorsed it. Shouldn't have taken it home though but given that the charge is wilful delay rather than failure to safeguard the mail he may have a get out. Even if he hasn't endorsed the mail he may have a chance if he can prove all the mail was dud.

Had his meeting this morning, he said CWU rep thinks it may be ok but is unsure as its a new DOM and its his first conduct case of this type with him. Seems to think it went well but still is expecting the bullet. Will keep you all updated.

Is there a time limit that the DOM has to return notes after a meeting. My mate has been hanging on from Last Tuesday and still not a peep. He's off work just now with Work Related Stress. Does that slow doon the process.

Any help please?

Thats what they tend to do, play a waiting game with us!!! now that he is off sick they will start annoying him with letters for appts etc and try to get rid, more so if he is a full-timer!!

M8 got the bullet this morning. CWU reckon he's got a gr8 case, canna say too much just in case too many eyes are about but they have punted him on willful delay, because he couldnt get access to 1 close (entry system), and one letter was mis-sorted. Nothing about keeping mail in his car or any other charge. How do you lot reckon he stands. He's been told that he'll get a CWU rep high up, to represent him?

I can't see where wilfull delay comes into this. There is nothing he could have done to have delivered these items sooner than monday so there has been no possible delay to mail delivery. He was obviously unable to gain entry on sat for the close and also unable to deliver the mis-sort as that would have taken him past his finish time - it was therefore cut-off. If he had returned items like he has been told to DO they certainly would not have been taken out again by anyone so there is no delay to the mail. All he has done wrong is not carryout the instruction to return items to DO.
