Well fine, you choose not to believe what accountants, analysts, researchers and postal operators the world over are experiencing. Ring them up I'm sure they'll take notice of you.

Do some research, go ploughing through all the statistics. Mail volume is in decline the world over. Could it be because of the thing you're sat in front of right now?

Surely not. I mean who'd want tosend an email instead of writing a letter. How many more people in your street have gone online in the last year alone. Thisisn't rocket science you know. Always a place for ostriches.

"accountants, analysts, researchers and postal operators" - four of the most overhyped, widely mistrusted and totally spin orientated professions you could have chosen as examples. By the way the thing I am in front of is an interesting piece of technology but if I want to make an impact I write to people and if I want to peruse a travel brochure, I want it in my hand - gut instinct and sore backs tell us that we are working a lot harder and that is NOT because we have less to do - next time YOU do an ostrich impersonation, I hope someone rams your greed driven statistics up your feathery arse. Thankyou and goodnight.

Well how uncomfortable for you if you choose not to do your homework. Some on here evidently still think the world is flat.

And some are clearly incapable of any independent thought whatsoever , and simply trot out the same old tosh time after time. Reproducing the script of the RM manual "How to win strikes and impoverish people" day in day out,'don't like it leave, flat earthers ,loony left, unions finished,ad infinitum. Get a new script,at least update it.
Quite like the new RM contribution to theoretical physics though, Leightons Law the inverse coefficient of expanding volume where less=more and more=less as long as the constant( bullshit baffles brains) remains equal

I don't think mail volumes are falling but I think they are getting more sporadic.

You can have a really heavy week with twice the mail of the next week and sometimes it feels like the mail centre was shut the previous day.

Independent thought does not mean you are right Belial. I accept your determination to prevent socialist principles being downtrodden but that does not mean I hold the same view as RM's visionless approach to business ether. There is a big difference between having a cause you have a hope of winning and a cause you have absolutely no hope of winning. My view is based on common sense - not clouded by a rosey-eyed view that standing together wins over all. I look and I read - a great deal. I do not assume that because a sack is heavy, mail volume is up either. Whether you believe Royal Mail's figures doesn't matter, but you can see the trend across all of Europe. US is down 7% alone.

Count the items of mail on a delivery every day over a sustained period of time, keep a record and then the truth is revealed!!!!!!

Time you gave up reading post office crap and started to live in a real world in real time. Accountants and the like will be the ruin off this once great country ....just ask the japs we have the biggest ratio of accountants in the world and are second to none !! and they laugh at us

% mean nothing and can be manipulated which ever way takes your fancy...... :nana

Royal Fail say, mail volumes are down...............Tuesday, the "lightest" day of the week, is nowhere near as "light" a day as it once was, and as for
saturdays, they seem to be getting heavier by the month.

Something does not compute. :evil/mad

Some simple maths for certain people on this forum:-

5 years ago I had 900 items to deliver

5 years later I have 1200 items to deliver

So its a 300 item increase!

If I had 600 items to deliver then this would be a 300 item decrease!

Does that make sense??????????

I suggest read the question in the poll - This is about how much mail volume you are delivering whether supplied by RM, TNT, UKMAIL etc.

Not in any real sense.
This (and all the other posts saying similar) reminds me of the old joke about the goldfish in a bowl in the desert, saying "what water shortage? I don't see a water shortage".
93+% of mail has passed through the postal mech to get to the DOs. If that same mech doesn't run for as long, or process as much mail as it did maybe two years ago, then volumes have gone down. End of.
TNT, ExpressMail and the rest don't have postal mech in any real sense (a couple of IMPs for plan breakdowns doesn't count) so basically every letter delivered has passed through RM automation at some point, and therefore counted, and that count is down.
Does that make sense?????

We don't count walksort mail in this trafic ? thats why the figgures given by your linos with the usual cry 'the mails down' dare say that press stream and the like are not included. neither are packets counted and i belive there is a slight increase in this trafic of late .......never belive all you are told by those pretending to be or are linos, or some who just think that r.m would not lie just one look at your bags says it all. Of course we are now dragging more of those as well ...yes of course the mails down :arrrghhh

So what is it then? I am delivering more items of mail than I ever have done. This mail is heavier than it ever was and the number of bags of mail has increased by 25% since SDD came in. D2D's have not increased, so why are my bags heavier and more numerous than before?

Are the main senders of the mail using special, extra heavy envelopes that expand to three times their width but only when they reach the delivery offices? Or is it more likely that the scare stories that mail volumes are falling are exaggerated.

Don't believe everything you read in the newspapers/internet/office notice board/union notice board. Remember that the people who write these articles are trying to pass on their version which may not necessarily be the truth

This one's going to drag on, that's for sure.
So if "my" MC processed an average of 1.93 million items of mail per day in February this year, but 2.01 million per day in the same period two years ago, that's to be dismissed as BS because some posties on here say their bags are heavier?
