How on earth am I getting paid?

Hi all,
I started as a postie on 11th March so now in my fourth week.
I'm on a 30 hour contract, so I have to work 6 hours per day, five days a week.
Since starting I've been doing more like 8 hours per day to get everything done. We never stop for any breaks.
But my payslip for march which covers the 13 days I worked (from 11th to 31st) only states 0.32 hours overtime ???
I dont have a swipe card yet, just been logging my attendance on the PDA as requested by the manager.
Can anyone explain the process for new starters?

If you're in my DO you'd have to be logging your overtime on paper. Best ask what the process is in your office.

Then buy a diary and log it all every day as well as whatever your office tells you to do.

Generally, the sign in sign out card scan does not provide a record of your hours worked that they use. It is merely to show you arrived on time and didn’t scan out early.

For any hours that you work over, either starting early if asked or finishing later, this must be written on a sheet that the manager will have somewhere - ask a work colleague where the overtime sheet for your division is kept.

There is a new sheet every day so you must write any overtime hours on it, that day. If the hours over are from the day before put the date in the margin.

Oh and take your breaks or you will burnout.

What are the payment codes for each of the overtime payment shown on your payslips?

As far as the "absence hours" how did you think you'd be paid for them if you didn't claim for them, particularly when another poster previously warned you that all overtime needs to be written on the sheets, or else you wouldn't get paid for the extra time worked.

I sense your manager knows full well when the monthly cut off dates are, they just don't want to tell you.

You really need to present him with an itemised list of all the extra time you've worked and ask him to confirm when you'll be paid.

Well......I've now completed 12 weeks as a postie, had three payslips and still have absolutely no idea how my wages are being calculated.
I asked the manager when the cut-off day for overtime was and he didn't know! I have three different hourly rates across the three payslips, even though I haven't yet worked over 40 hours in one week. No one told me about the 2% pay increase in April. No one told me to book 'abscence hours' for when I start at the same time as the 37 hour staff. I ask loads of people how the wages are worked out and either no one knows or everyone is too busy to explain anything !!!!
It's an utter shambles and my payslips are a total mystery.
And yes, I've written all my hours down in a diary.
What are the chances of me getting the right money?
In 42 years in the British workforce, I've never been so confused.

Just tell manager your working OT anymore till they sort it out!

You'll quickly realise that royal mail are a bunch of dishonest con men,i stopped working overtime years ago after multiple f--k ups and a useless union,now i know how much i get every week with no chance of them coming back next year saying you owe them,you've seen the post office scandal well the corruption is still happening ,save yourself any stress forget overtime go back on your time and work your hours.

I feel your pain, I’m also about 12 weeks in and after the first payslip ‘error’ I make it my duty before any work is done to sit down with a manager and check PSP which is the payment system used to pay. Do this before the monthly cut of which is the third Sunday of the month. Payslips come out the Thursday after the cut off so you can see on the people app it all tallies up to your diary.

What I find about asking questions is people either don’t care as they get paid weekly and correctly or don’t know which when I ask the question well who will know they don’t know that either.

any new start who joins should be introduced to the Indoor Support, this person is responsible for ensuring everyone gets paid for their overtime, they should have a process in place for you to record any O/T and for them to input that into the system.
