Our office doesn’t like the app either. We have to fill out a form and do it the old-fashioned way.

We have to send a paper form up to our resource unit. They don't accept any applications made via the app
Our Dom also ignores it, that should be unacceptable, the provision to request leave on the app should be enforced.
I agree completely. Is it something to do with the union though? (Our union rep and his appointee deal with keying in the hol forms, getting time away from their walk and indoor duties respectively to process them, and I wonder if a stink has previously been kicked up…)
This comment 100% confirms you are a troll. :thumbup
How so, chum? Do elaborate :thumbup
I did elaborate. You just chose not to quote that part. Though now I see my mistake. Reading comprehension perhaps isnt a strong suit for you. I thought I made it fairly clear that I believe you to be a troll because you somehow find a way to lay blame at the unions feet in all matters.
I think you are just here as an agitator.

I thought saying "I suppose Russia's invasion of Ukraine was somehow the CWU's doing as well?" made that fairly clear.

Not to bother though. All cleared up now.
You said my comment quoted above “100% proves” I am a troll. I didn’t mention Russia or Ukraine. I didn’t “blame the union” for anything.

You have failed/are unable to explain what within my comment proves I am a troll. Perhaps comprehension isn’t a strong point of yours - refer to the dictionary definition of “prove” for further info.

Sadly true.

I’m not entirely sure why what she said was that controversial. Our union rep is in charge of sorting annual leave and planning rotas and assigning duties. I assumed this was commonplace?

Our rep is in charge of the tea making duties. But accusing the Union of everything that is wrong in Royal Mail is a bit like the pot calling the kettle black. :chuckle

I definitely wouldn’t go that far. I have just seen far more union bashing on here, than that perfectly innocent, and accurate in my experience, comment. We all know that the reason the company is in such a mess is because it exists primarily to make a profit. This has nothing to do with the union. The most flak I would personally send their way, is they aren’t doing enough to strengthen, by supporting new starters and enticing them into joining, but other than that, I have no real complaints.

While it may be commonplace, my concern — which admittedly may be perception rather than actuality —is that preferential treatment with holiday picks etc may be given to union members where union reps are involved in allocating and processing leave. And personally, I don’t want a union I’m not part of intimately involved in determining and processing my holiday, my overtime, duty picks, etc. These are HR and personnel functions . Who gets the plummy week off in July, the non-union member or union member? There is certainly potential for a conflict of interest (‘COI’j to arise there imho.

Those of you clued up with the law will know that the leading legal case on COI and bias, called Porter v Magill, says that a “real possibility” is enough - you don’t need to prove there is actual bias, just that it would be a real possibility.

Resourcing meetings are part of the Reps role. It's quite ironic given the reason the rep is likely involved in the first place (In this new fantasy of yours) is to insure fairness. Managers are notorious for their biases and favourites.

Im a rep, I don't allocate Annual leave but I do keep an eye on it in resource meetings. I even help move it along because the manager is a lazy s**t good for nothing. It is the complete opposite of what you are saying. I have people coming to me to ask if it is being done fairly.

Anyway, get back under your bridge.

I don’t think there is any preference shown to union members when it comes to allocating annual leave but that might be naivety on my part and I would be speculating as I have no experience of applying as a non union member.

You are pretty much guaranteed the first two weeks in our office no matter who you are.

Its the content of what they say all the time. Like another poster says, like day follows night there they are bashing the union. It could be pissing down with rain and I reckon that would somehow be the unions fault. Its can't have gone unnoticed by yourself? They come across as very bitter. Something very off with their account.

Not berating it (Ren) for innocuously using a gender-neutral pronoun on the basis of one post, but “it” has previously made its quite personal views about me clear.

As for you, Barnacle, if you really are a woman, ie born female rather than transitioned from a bloke, I would expect some girl solidarity instead of stupid comments re calling the police. Yeah, right!
