Why don't you piss off back to the job whence you came (Amazon) then, instead of stirring up shite on here and winding people up with your waffling nonsense? :thumbup :wave
This forum is a club for current posties. You aren’t a postie. A growing number on here doubt you ever were one. Why don’t you clear off before we call security to have you removed?!
Is it aye?

The national minimum wage just crept up to £11.44 an hour today, how much do you get paid again?

£12.29 an hour for every single new start OPG at Royal Mail (minus London weighting)...since last year with Saturday and Sunday as compulsory working days, all year round. :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause

That is genuinely the worst. No wonder new starts are leaving in there droves, along with many experienced posties.

Then there are those where the thought of rebelling against their master causes them pain. The cognitive dissonance is so strong they will believe any lie they tell themselves to justify being treated so poorly.

Yes, RM introduced new entrants’ Ts and Cs, no doubt about it. But those new Ts and Cs formed a very small part of a much wider dispute and impasse between the CWU and RM. That impasse included new methods of working, network window extension, reforms to sick pay, review of parcel networks, etc, etc.

Given the breadth of the dispute, the CWU — as the unelected and unappointed staff-side rep for new starters — decided to sacrifice anything to do with new entrants and instead concentrate only on things that were to the detriment of existing staff. They effectively said to RM, but privately, “Okay, we don’t like it that you’re watering down new entrants’ contracts and hope you might change your mind one day, but we will let that one go if you are prepared to make concessions elsewhere for existing staff.”

Why would new starters want this lot bargaining for us and representing us when none of us recognise it as our union? RM has been very clear and transparent with its intentions, yet the CWU uses smoke and mirrors in an attempt to rewrite history.

PS: I don’t see anywhere within the agreement, or elsewhere, anything about pay parity and levelling up taking place within five years, one year or any defined period — it just says it is a “shared aspiration” depending on profitability.
You are not a new starter. Not even convinced that you work at RM.
Stop bullying them (by your own definition of that word). They already provided photographic evidence that made one ex-postie on here look stupid.
As predictable an arrival as rain on a sunny day.
In your own words ‘Bullies don’t realise they are bullies’. By my own definition, someone who follows around someone, deriding them for, either their lack of experience, or indeed their gender, qualifies, and as I mentioned before, I deplore bullies, so keep it up and expect a response.
Stop following me.
If you stop quoting my posts, I will stop responding to them. That seems fair.
Blimey, ego check. Just because you are in a chain of quotes doesn’t mean that you specifically are being singled out for a personal reply.
I’m literally replying to the last post in that quote chain. You understand how forums work right? Have you just returned from a day in the pub with CarryingMGMT?

C'mon guys forget about who is what and whether they should post on here or not, get it back on track.
I know i have been as guilty as anyone for doing this, but i hope i have learned and have stopped the personal stuff, people don't get on we all understand it's just i thought we were starting to get some useful insight going there.

Who cares anymore what is going on. The sooner this company goes down the shitter the better…… would love to go in in the morning & be told that’s it the company’s gone. All those c***s higher up have got more to lose than me & the statutory government redundancy entitlement will be f**k all to the goons on £60,70,80,90k+.

Hardly. You don't need to run a business as a worker's co-operative to have reasonably happy and efficient employees. Equally those factories etc which operated under Communist etc regimes were hardly worker's paradise either. Anything but, apparently.
I'm catching up with this thread... Did anyone hear the interview with the CEO of Timpsons?

I thought what he said about top-down management really chimed with how this job/service/company has been circling the drain ever tighter for the last decade. At every level everything has become rigidly micromanaged. The managerial class have destroyed autonomy. The PDA's data-gathering is not so much about getting a fix on reality as it is about providing busy work for a bureaucracy to justify its own existence.

They love automation yet somehow we have the money to spend on real people to heat seat cushions. Non-operational grades out on delivery, not just for Christmas.
The machine stops.

A company that judges their responses via a "Colleague Survey". Oh dear, I didn't even bother filling mine in! The questions are all generic and there's no real input from staff on the shop floor anyway. However, upside down management sounds a lot better than top heavy management :thumbup

What I would like to know is that the business ran an incentive scheme with the potential of achieving a £500 bonus. We got diddly squat whilst the office that Lou B was in got their £250, so my question for the company is what is being done to help improve the offices that are continually failing so that the next time we have another incentive scheme like this we might actually be able to achieve it? On a daily basis we have walks that are not being covered by anyone as COMs are just looking at their budgets for their own ends and telling staff to deliver the Tracked items.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I’ve been saying exactly this to people in my office for the last year or so but most of them don’t seem to be able to grasp it. RM have created an industry within an industry with the introduction of all this technology. It is a hungry & expensive beast with those working within it on huge wages whilst not actually producing anything. I remember about 5/6+ years ago RM were advertising at nineteen to the dozen for Data Analysts & wait for it……Data Scientists!!!! The wages were astronomical, ranging from 60-130k plus an array of benefits including private healthcare for the whole family, company car etc etc. it is this monster they have created that is bleeding the company dry. Ask yourselves how many letters & parcels are needed to be delivered just to pay for these waste of skin & water & that’s before all other costs have been accounted for!!!

It’s the Tesco problem being replicated in all kinds of businesses but no one seems to learn from previous examples. Tesco introduced self service checkouts to reduce costs. What they have found is that they don’t save money at all because technology costs to be maintained and it’s easier to shoplift through self serv checkouts.

But customers are used to the technology now so Tesco are stuck with the cost of the technology.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’
