I try not to think about it really ,go in on time do my tracked and half my walk go home on time until directed differently, collect my wage for an easy week while the company lose money with their hair brained schemes, get a couple more years in and im home and dry.
Perhaps the most "hair brained" aspect of the way this company is being run and losing money is that they're allowing workshy piss takers such as yourself to get away with doing half the work you're paid for and boast about having "easy weeks"?
The only workshy piss takers I know in this company sit in offices doing f**k all without a clue. They call themselves COMS, Line managers, OPLs, RODs, Planners...Gaggle of f***ing idiots. Catch one alone and they can barely muster a hello or look you in the eyes the gutless f***s. Only when they are in a group they give it the hard.

This company is built on the hard work of the OPG and is being ruined by a management class not fit to tie its staffs shoes.
Really is such a great true post. I come on here now and then. More so hoping things are improving for ex colleagues who don’t deserve all the BS they go through. This post sums up Royal Mail to a tee unfortunately. Shame there are so many posters on this site who can’t see through the shambles RM has become. A once great job which was achievable and with pride to take from has all been systematically ruined by overpaid donkeys . Mainly failed postmen who are so out of touch with reality. Horrible state of affairs
Let us be honest here. All these issues have been caused by privatisation. When you make a service industry one that exists to make profit at any cost, then deterioration in quality is inevitable. We should have made more of an effort to prevent it back in the day. If we had made as much of a deal of threatening industrial action back then, it would likely have never happened, alas we pretty much bent over and accepted it.
Never one to somehow lay blame at the union or posties feet. As if this companies problems are our fault. Laughable.

The harsh reality is that the vast majority of management havnt a clue in what they are doing. Nepotism is rife and should be a huge cause for concern.
I know of one example down south where a senior manager has given his son a job. Entered the business without a driving license straight out of school and straight into not only a management position but shift management and PCOM! No degree, no qualifications. Just his son! He's a f***ing useless c*** from what I hear as well. We wonder why this company is a mess.
Yes, the union, myself included, are to blame for this situation. We didn’t kick up anywhere near as much of a fuss when privatisation was mooted, as this last wave of industrial action. I know. I was there.
For a start, we the people weren't even asked for a vote about privatisation back in the day, secondly, why are you always so combative and pro RM shafting it's employees on here?

Postal workers voted overwhelmingly against the sell-off of Royal Mail in spite of us being promised £1,500 of shares as part of the flotation plan.

Maybe we didn't strike back then (can't remember to be honest) but we also voted nine to one in favour of boycotting the delivery of our competitors mail. However, Royal Mail took the CWU to the high court to seek an injunction.

Now that OfCom are complicit in Royal Mail's objectives of reducing the USO, it's interesting that the company have not actively looked at ways to prevent direct stream access providers from creaming our profits on letters. We were massively profitable on letters before they ended our monopoly.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Genuinely forgot about the £1500 phantom shares bribe.

We didn’t strike back then, which is more my point. I’m not sure how our resident stalker here can claim they were phantom shares either. I certainly sold mine when they were at about £6 a share and the money was real.

   so you managed to sell your phantom shares for £6 odds even though you still work at RM (the only people who manage to cash them in were already in the midst of taking VR), you get family friendly hours because of your van share driver, your DO is only moving 15 minutes later start times this year even though you still start at 6am....blah blah blah.

Any other magnificent things about your job you would like to add? ;liar

I think you might be drunk or need help mentally so I am going to explain this as briefly and sensitively as I can. We received shares after privatisation. We had to sit on them for a while until selling them. I chose to sell when they were valued highly, and also paid tax on them.

They were not phantom shares as they literally paid for a family holiday.

Do you even know what “harassment” is? It is an unwanted and unsolicited course of conduct. In circumstances where your drunken/silly trolling comments require and invite a response from the person you are antagonising there can be no harassment. Go look at section 1 of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

To be clear, I have made strenuous efforts to avoid you on this forum, ignoring your comments and questions, yet you have quoted me and raised stupid questions/comments that necessitate a response from me.

Oh dear, I guess the title of the thread really says it all now....wtf is really going on?

I'm afraid to say I'm not pro-Royal Mail anymore even though it's my current job and the lords pay me a half decent wage for doing back breaking work for them as a loyal serf. From a glass half full point of view it's sad to say that other jobs aren't that much better for the wages that we receive from our masters, but there must be a reason why thousands of staff have left and many of them who are still working are hoping to be paid off.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

You literally claimed to be in the pub all day in another post here. Please at least keep track of your incessant, incoherent ramblings.

Oh, and feel free to apologise for being wrong about the shares we received when we were privatised. I’ll wait.

The very first lot of shares we were given were swiftly claimed to be worthless, "colleague shares" I think they were called at the time, if I remember correctly they were a bribe to employees at the time to let the government go ahead with privatisation. Only people who were in the midst of taking VR at the time were able to cash them in. The rest of us had them taken away.

Then we were awarded the real shares over the next few years.

Like I said, a bribe before privatisation, which became worthless before RM employees could even benefit from them.

Scandal :arrrghhh
