Yes it was a case you could predict the week and adjust. A nice Mon/Tues, then Weds, Thurs, Fri you would be happy to put in the overtime when things ramped up. Now there is no easy day as you are taking out previous mail aswell dailyscotchy1962 wrote: ↑26 Mar 2024, 14:15I think what he means is "easy" as in stress free, you have to remember us older guys always would have gone the extra mile to get everything delivered as that was the service we provided. Perhaps the old way with smaller duties wasn't economically viable anymore and us oldies are unrealistic, but lets be real i don't want 1-3 hrs o/t everyday and i don't particularly need it, so why should i or anyone work over their contracted hrs if they don't want to.
It has become a relentless slog that only the young or fit can cope with and i fancy even they will become fed up with it eventually.
The amount of newbies leaving should be enough to let them know how bad it is.
So stress free and finish on time is not workshy, just realistic.

Re: WTF is really going on?
We don't bother completing our walks ever since they extended both our duties by a third. Due to the increasing number of Tracked parcels that we have to deliver on both duties it's only possible to deliver the mail from one. We could work overtime everyday to complete but what's the point now that we are finishing later and they have promised to put duties back in??
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

They’ve promised to put duties back in?? Please let that be true.postslippete wrote: ↑26 Mar 2024, 16:49We don't bother completing our walks ever since they extended both our duties by a third. It’s wryly amusing to think that just a few years ago being told to ‘just do the tracked’, meant sorting through a sack to filter out the minority of tracked. Now that same sack will likely be entirely tracked postage.

Over 90% of parcels shoebox size and above are now Tracked and many of them are that big that there is no room in the van for them. Cart before the horse? They initially promised to put duties back in after the complete sh*tshow at Xmas but apparently our area manager backtracked on it. The COMs seem happy to let us deliver mail every other day as long as the Tracked gets delivered, so this is what we do. Only the singleton duties are completed every day probably because the staff that are on those rounds are working their day off so they don't get stuffed with two days mail. There are occasions where mail hasn't been delivered for three days though and I'm damned if I'm helping the business if they don't help us like they promised.

The only workshy piss takers I know in this company sit in offices doing f**k all without a clue. They call themselves COMS, Line managers, OPLs, RODs, Planners...Gaggle of f***ing idiots. Catch one alone and they can barely muster a hello or look you in the eyes the gutless f***s. Only when they are in a group they give it the hard.Mike G wrote: ↑26 Mar 2024, 07:59Perhaps the most "hair brained" aspect of the way this company is being run and losing money is that they're allowing workshy piss takers such as yourself to get away with doing half the work you're paid for and boast about having "easy weeks"?guardianangel wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024, 17:26I try not to think about it really ,go in on time do my tracked and half my walk go home on time until directed differently, collect my wage for an easy week while the company lose money with their hair brained schemes, get a couple more years in and im home and dry.

Re: WTF is really going on?
There has not been and will never be organisation within the company. The business is run on a whim from a day to day basis without a care in the world.
The only priority on the day is specials being delivered on time, and tracked being delivered by the end of the day and everything else can be left for the rest of the week or month.
The incentives are just not there anymore by going that extra mile and I think that's part of the problem as to why people including management just give up.
With the new starting, finishing times just round the corner the times have been amended three times without a clue if its actually going to work. No doubt they will change it again once it goes live. Last Xmas was probably the last time people stayed out till late 5 or 6pm just to clear everything this time around it won't happen as nobody wants to be delivering mail past the kids bedtime. Sad times times ahead.

Well said Ren, a fine description of just about every com and upwards i have met in this company, and a correct description of how this company stays afloat. Perhaps somebody will notice this and take note....... but i doubt it.Ren Hoëk wrote: ↑26 Mar 2024, 17:37The only workshy piss takers I know in this company sit in offices doing f**k all without a clue. Re: WTF is really going on?
Really is such a great true post. I come on here now and then. More so hoping things are improving for ex colleagues who don’t deserve all the BS they go through. This post sums up Royal Mail to a tee unfortunately. Shame there are so many posters on this site who can’t see through the shambles RM has become. A once great job which was achievable and with pride to take from has all been systematically ruined by overpaid donkeys . Mainly failed postmen who are so out of touch with reality. Horrible state of affairsRen Hoëk wrote: ↑26 Mar 2024, 17:37The only workshy piss takers I know in this company sit in offices doing f**k all without a clue.
