The ones in my office who complain the loudest about how shite it is are the ones that come in early for free and don’t take the full break

The rest of us understand that coming in on time, taking breaks, driving at a reasonable speed, walking at a reasonable pace and arriving back on time means you cannot achieve completion of most rounds. That’s not our problem though.

Siso when brought in seemed a threat, it’s great.

Pda Atcuals when brought in seemed a threat, it’s great.

There’s no his/her word against yours now. The evidence is there
Totally agree, start on time , take break and finish on time , work to the best of your ability and you have nothing to worry about, the fact we can’t complete is out of our hands.

What is the bigger picture here?
Ah yes, Royal Mail has been dissolved into GLS on an international business level. IE "bean counting."

So now being a postie, a hard working, respected member within the daily culture/society on our streets is being erased. It's not about delivering NHS letters on time, it's not about helping out the human beings you see occasionally/daily at work.

No, it's about numbers on spreadsheets and management bonuses.

Amazonification if you will.

All that started as soon as we were privatised, as any private company just looks at the £'s, although that usually goes hand in hand with giving good customer service!!

The moment Royal Mail allowed us to strike through Xmas , the union were defeated, that was our only leverage over the company gone in one swoop. For those that say the union bottled it , need to get real , from that moment the dispute was lost and it was all about the union getting out of that situation with as little damage as possible.
All sounds ok, but seeing as how you mentioned the bottling it and getting real i imagine this is aimed at me or people who think like me.
Firstly the ballot was after the xmas strike period, making that irrelevant, and i would imagine the union hoped it would show RM how united and strong we still were, even after striking on and off for all this time.
Secondly bottling it was exactly what i would call a union, with one of the biggest strike ballots in their favour ever, who then decide to go all in with the company and then advise us to accept what can only be described as a poor deal by any standards.
I am a realist and my belief is that a strong union with a massive mandate should have pushed on and got a decent outcome.... but they didn't therefore not holding their nerve when the chips were down, therefore bottling it.
All negotiations are like high stakes poker with a lot of bluff and counter-bluff and our union folded a winning hand.
But that ship has sailed and we are where we are... in the s**t!!

Why is it changing every few weeks?
People were unhappy that the extra hours were worked before getting anything back.
People were unhappy about carrying owed hours over into the new holiday year.
Traffic dictated that it was possible to recoup some of the hours now.
:chuckle :chuckle Traffic !!! this last 3 weeks have been mental ive been alternating walks everyday failing the USO and here's me thinking that the government hadn't agreed to a 3 day week ,yet here we are Royal Mail doing what the hell they like and running rings around our union yet again.
They are not running things around the union, believe it or not our union are now in agreement with Royal Mail that it’s acceptable to rotate failing mail on alternative days. This is all part of the plan to reduce the uso after the election later this year.
Maybe Ofcom should fine the CWU too then because as of yet its still law to deliver 6 days a week which they are failing, its a travesty that Royal Mail think they are above the law and our government allow it ,another reason to see the Tories gone ,literally letting their mates get away with murder.
It is not the unions job to run this company. They exist to protect its members. Every single post of yours has an anti union sentiment. Massive chip on your shoulder.

What would you like the union to do about Q of S? Call its members back out on strike? Potentially wrecking the company and all of our jobs.
I would expect the Union to do more, maybe spend some of our subs on a publicity campaign to show the public they are breaking the law and yes if need be go on strike ,we are now working in the worse conditions i can ever remember. The video yesterday was like the Tory gaslighting "we are here to improve workers terms and conditions " well in the last 10 years there has been a complete failure we are now working under the worst conditions ever, i will carry on being anti union until they start to do what they are suppose to do and earn the money we all pay for. I do truly believe somewhere and someone higher up in the union are on the take or at best just sat there stealing a living off our money (Tory government comes to mind)
The CWU are active in talking about USO failures. They have been on the radio multiple times, a number of TV shows dedicated to it. The bottom line though is that it is RM running the company. The CWU exist to protect our jobs. If you think heading back out on strike is protecting jobs you need to give your head a wobble. RM's finances are wrecked. Striking will cost jobs. The best way to deal with it is detach your self from the duty. You have a start time and a finish time. What ever is left is their problem. Rinse and repeat every day.

If you really want to talk about USO, most of what is in your frame isnt even USO product. I think it only accounts for about 12%. Its very low. So the failure isnt as big as we would think really.

As for working conditions. Again, driven my RM themselves. Without the CWU we would be well and truly f****d and years ago. The company made a very serious effort to attack its staff and unfortunately they were fairly successful this time. It doesn't mean we should just give up. Workers rights are won and lost but class struggle continues. We arent the only workforce to go through this. Look at all the people who have been on strike recently. Companies have been emboldened by this Tory government to act as they please. Their time is up which gives me hope that we can turn things around.

Not aimed at anyone specifically, all entitled to views , like I’ve said previously, I voted no as it’s a crap deal . It’s all well and good getting a high mandate to strike but the reality was it was dragging on for to long and the union had to eventually read the room , I know from my own office that people worked the strikes and others were saying they couldn’t carry on much longer . The miners strike springs to mind , my point stands that the union thought they would have had this won by Xmas , the moment they didn’t it was damage limitation.

If we you wish see the 6 day USO remain, I'd be hoping to see the Tories stick around. They're refusing to budge on the 6 day USO because it'll go down badly with their core voter base. Namely the elderly and those in rural areas. Labour have already said in not as many words they'll green light chances to the USO.

The minute the different strike dates for different functions was ruled illegal was the moment we lost.

I was being flippant. That *is* the reason the Tories are refusing requests to change the USO, though.
