They are not running things around the union, believe it or not our union are now in agreement with Royal Mail that it’s acceptable to rotate failing mail on alternative days. This is all part of the plan to reduce the uso after the election later this year.guardianangel wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 20:42clashcityrocker wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 18:05People were unhappy that the extra hours were worked before getting anything back.

Who knows?sindba wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 20:34So this is just a one-off re-coup of hours then we'll go to predictable, set times throughout the year?clashcityrocker wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 18:05People were unhappy that the extra hours were worked before getting anything back.

Or is there no permanent times and they'll forever just make it up "as traffic allows"?
They have said the peak period this year will only be 5 weeks from 18th November after which all hours would have been balanced out.
To me, if they are going to have seasonal variations, it makes a lot more sense just to have 5 weeks leading up to Xmas working longer and 5 weeks during the school summer holidays worker shorter than the extended periods that were originally agreed.

Maybe Ofcom should fine the CWU too then because as of yet its still law to deliver 6 days a week which they are failing, its a travesty that Royal Mail think they are above the law and our government allow it ,another reason to see the Tories gone ,literally letting their mates get away with murder.chickenwittle wrote: ↑21 Mar 2024, 21:12They are not running things around the union, believe it or not our union are now in agreement with Royal Mail that it’s acceptable to rotate failing mail on alternative days. It is not the unions job to run this company. They exist to protect its members. Every single post of yours has an anti union sentiment. What would you like the union to do about Q of S? Call its members back out on strike? Potentially wrecking the company and all of our jobs.

You are right, we all know the union are powerless now and are barely being consulted these days . My gripe with the union is the fact they are pretending to the members they are actively trying to help to fix the uso situation when in reality they are onboard with royal mails plan to completely change it .Ren Hoëk wrote: ↑22 Mar 2024, 12:06It is not the unions job to run this company. I would expect the Union to do more, maybe spend some of our subs on a publicity campaign to show the public they are breaking the law and yes if need be go on strike ,we are now working in the worse conditions i can ever remember. The video yesterday was like the Tory gaslighting "we are here to improve workers terms and conditions " well in the last 10 years there has been a complete failure we are now working under the worst conditions ever, i will carry on being anti union until they start to do what they are suppose to do and earn the money we all pay for. I do truly believe somewhere and someone higher up in the union are on the take or at best just sat there stealing a living off our money (Tory government comes to mind)Ren Hoëk wrote: ↑22 Mar 2024, 12:06It is not the unions job to run this company. I understand your frustration with the union, i think we all have to face the fact that the CWU as a union are powerless now, the only use to members is for little things and quick fixes within your office.guardianangel wrote: ↑23 Mar 2024, 05:58I would expect the Union to do more, maybe spend some of our subs on a publicity campaign to show the public they are breaking the law and yes if need be go on strike ,we are now working in the worse conditions i can ever remember. I guess you still have them for anything legal work wise but having never had to use them for that i wouldn't know.
As for the strike thing... you and me would be nearly the only ones at the gate.
I don't think the union leaders are on the take, just no bottle to do what needed to be done at the time it was required. Who gets one of the biggest ever "yes" votes for IA and then caves in to everything, but that is the past and this is reality.

Re: Reverting back to 37 hour week .
The moment Royal Mail allowed us to strike through Xmas , the union were defeated, that was our only leverage over the company gone in one swoop. For those that say the union bottled it , need to get real , from that moment the dispute was lost and it was all about the union getting out of that situation with as little damage as possible.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑23 Mar 2024, 07:08I understand your frustration with the union, i think we all have to face the fact that the CWU as a union are powerless now, the only use to members is for little things and quick fixes within your office.guardianangel wrote: ↑23 Mar 2024, 05:58I would expect the Union to do more, maybe spend some of our subs on a publicity campaign to show the public they are breaking the law and yes if need be go on strike ,we are now working in the worse conditions i can ever remember. You may laugh but there's people in my office "Complaining" that they can't get their duties delivered Because they're working a shorter week!
I had to explain, "You do realise that the reason you're now working less hours a week..... is because you were working MORE hours for FREE on the run up to Christmas"?
As most of them are the ones who STILL come in earlier and work for FREE I don't suppose they're bothered anyway. I am no longer surprised by the amounts of idiots that work in Royal Mail! I think it must be part of the recruitment process.

Re: Reverting back to 37 hour week .
To be fair a lot of posties have been working this way for 30/40 years with no issues and probably thought working that way would always be ok . My office has been good for a few years now in respect that nobody starts early, everyone takes their break at the same time and nobody works past their finish time unless they want to and are paid overtime to do so. Working this way also takes a lot of stress out of the job and puts the onus on the manager and Royal Mail to fix the problems.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑23 Mar 2024, 09:46You may laugh but there's people in my office "Complaining" that they can't get their duties delivered Because they're working a shorter week!![]()

The problem is if half the office are working this way then it makes those doing the job properly look incompetent.chickenwittle wrote: ↑23 Mar 2024, 09:58To be fair a lot of posties have been working this way for 30/40 years with no issues and probably thought working that way would always be ok . We are made to work all of our time in my office. We cannot clock out early. If we finish before we are either sent back out or have to sit in the office and wait. Despite this we still have people starting 30 minutes early.

Yeah that’s madness and again goes back to the old days when it was job and finish. Our rounds are so big now that it’s pointless coming in early because we still wouldn’t be able to finish.LouBarlow wrote: ↑23 Mar 2024, 11:16The problem is if half the office are working this way then it makes those doing the job properly look incompetent.chickenwittle wrote: ↑23 Mar 2024, 09:58To be fair a lot of posties have been working this way for 30/40 years with no issues and probably thought working that way would always be ok . The ones in my office who complain the loudest about how shite it is are the ones that come in early for free and don’t take the full break
The rest of us understand that coming in on time, taking breaks, driving at a reasonable speed, walking at a reasonable pace and arriving back on time means you cannot achieve completion of most rounds. That’s not our problem though.
Siso when brought in seemed a threat, it’s great.
Pda Atcuals when brought in seemed a threat, it’s great.
There’s no his/her word against yours now. The evidence is there
