Why would they charge for it? They make more money from us picking it up than they would if the customer took it to a post office.
Can you explain what your statement actually means? An awful lot of "they" used in that statement of yours
They = Royal Mail. I’m not sure why it would be that confusing, but then again. I wouldn’t use the term ‘we’ in that scenario, as I don’t consider myself to be benefitting financially from the arrangement. Hope this helps?

And to clarify further - Royal Mail/they/we make more money collecting a parcel from a customer, than RM/they/we make if they/customer take it to their/customer post office.

I wonder what the threshold would be for it to be financially viable to send a van out to do the collections instead of the individual walks. How often do they miss the final run to the local MC?
I would imagine any COLOD's made by our sub offices don't make the final run to the MC on a Saturday, Tracked 24 and SD's and the other detritus wouldn't start on its journey to the MC until Monday. It might be free to collect but sender doesn't get the service they think they're getting!

They probably know more than an ex postie who couldn’t wait to leave the job, yet spends every waking minute obsessing over the job they couldn’t wait to leave and the people still doing it. It is a wonder you even have any time to perform your new employment given you spend every waking minute on here or thinking about the place.

There is a video about a conversation with retired members on CWU live. Can't remember if you said that you are in the Union but you might learn something about their wisdom and dedication Lou! I managed to watch the first 10 minutes... lol

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Wisdom and dedication? I’ve done a ‘life sentence’ already at Royal Mail and I’m not even close to retiring. I’ve seen it all, believe me. And yes, I’m in the union.
