It got me thinking.
you can very easily fall fowl to the many driving regulations which Royal Mail are at this moment very heavily clamping down on and I’ve witnessed delivery guys that have come across landing themselves in deep s#@t unwittingly and totally innocently because of infringement of driving regulations to the extent of conduct coding and potential dismissal
The driving and tachograph regulations are very clear and covered in CPC training so ‘totally innocently’ doesn’t come into it !

Re: Delivery v Distribution wage
It's about £88 per week. I'm sure it's not pensionable from the way forward agreement. If you were a 600 driver as I was back then, it was pensionable but not if you started after thst, Same as night allowance is fully pensionable for pre way forward agreement staff but if you started after that only half of the night allowance is pensionable. Another cracking deal from the union. Also we got NDA ( night duty allowance) for every hour worked between 7pm and 6am even on overtime. Also Saturday and Sunday premium. Sometimes my allowances were over half my wages. But I was proud and happy to work for RM back in the 90s,2000s. I couldn't work for them anymore apart from going back to 7.5 tonne driver of class 1 or 2 driver because I wouldn't last 1 day in delivery.NWpostie wrote: ↑12 Mar 2024, 06:22100pw is pretty decent, it would make a big difference to your pension as well.Jb1969 wrote: ↑10 Mar 2024, 20:55I am a 600 driver & we used to receive a 600 allowance but that has been included in our main wage now.
I think it’s worth roughly a £100 pw.
We had 3 delivery guys start at ours 18 months ago & according to them changed their lives.
Breaks are there to be taken by law tho & you will need your CPC altho RM put those 3 thro it.
What we are driving is another story, a million kilometres is not uncommon & the very few newer break done even more than old.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
