Postal workers across Europe will tomorrow (June 6) be taking part in a day
of action - including work stoppages - to force a change of heart in the
European Union and save a universal postal service.
The action has been called by UNI-Europa Post and Logistics and is expected
to affect at least 300 European cities as unions step up their resistance
to postal liberalisation plans from the European Commission.
A proposed Commission directive would remove all protections from
traditional postal operators by January 1, 2009 but makes no provision for
funding to secure a universal postal service at an affordable price to all
customers wherever they live.
Unions are calling on European ministers meeting on June 7 to reject the
Commission’s proposals and plan to lobby European parliamentarians before
they vote on the issue in early July.
“Ten years of postal liberalisation in Europe have so far meant fewer post
offices, fewer postal outlets, fewer mail boxes and longer distances to
access the post,â€

June 6: Postal day of action across Europe.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Instead of European postal companies competing against each other which only makes our working conditions more cut throat and forces down our pay and conditions.
There should have been a truly European Postal Service (Including Royal Mail) providing a standard service with a standard
fee for all letters and parcels across Europe And also equal pay for all posties
This would be a truly public service that would benefit all European States.
The present system which is called modernization is nothing more than a dog eat dog attitude, the law of the jungle.
How many European posties will loose their jobs, its a disgrace all in the name of profit.
I guess this is to simple for the European Mps? They think more of their pockets than of their principles!
"What profits a man if he gains the whole world but loses if soul in the process"
Whats your views on this posties?
