Agree this a strange not quite believable post but who knows. Complete opposite at our place,if you are a full timer with a lot of years in you have to be very careful. Management will look for any and every opportunity to push you out the door. On the other hand newer staff and p/T staff get away with all sorts that a few years back would have resulted in P45 in the post.
Management turn a blind eye when it suits them.

Hardly anyone uses a trolley in oursmatthew68 wrote: ↑08 Mar 2024, 19:13Did the 30 hour guy have their full break? Come in early? And carry bags not using trolley? Then they only have themselves to blame like so manyKenfandango wrote: ↑07 Mar 2024, 17:46Well we got told today that as of next week, part timers can only get called in early "a maximum of twice a week" for the foreseeable, to "save hours." Obviously this is doomed to fail, as we have a high volume of PT staff and most of us are in early double prepping walks, but apparently "too many people are signing out early"
When pressed on who is managing to clear and come back early, the managers told us it's all in one section, all full time staff and none of them ever clear, just stop at 1 and go home. So their solution to this issue is to financially penalise anyone who is "newer" to the business and leave the people causing the problem to carry on, as I'd happily put money on us all coming in to unprepared, unmanageable frames just in time to see the full timers sailing out of the door.
What an awful company
Yesterday one of our 30hr staff managed to finish an hour early and was sent back out with 2 bundled loops that one of the FT staff had dumped on his frame having already gone home. Did management say a word to the FTer? Of course not, the work went out so problem solved

Re: Overtime ban o'clock
RM is so big that no 2 offices are run the same. Over the years I've heard stories from neighbouring offices which make me question how we can both have the same employer.
Make the job work for you. Don't compare yourself with the guy in the frame next to you....he has likely done a deal to leave his tracked to finish early. Work your hours....book OT if you want it....if you don't cut off and leave it for the next day.

Gaffers at our place are now saying don’t go over by too much. if you can’t complete in your time just bring it back. Still happy to throw money about to clear parcels tho.

I have known many posties needing time off due to a bad back.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑12 Mar 2024, 20:03
If they were meant to be using a trolley, then it'll be an instant blameworthy
I have never once heard the word blameworthy attached to a postie's absence.

So irritating. Made the walks too long to complete within time, so failing to clear becomes acceptable rather than pay xs.
