Just noticed that this post is historic 🙄

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If the message pops up on my PDA (usually along the lines of ‘If customer isn’t in leave it in their designated safe place - The Shed) then I will leave it there. The customer is always right, after all.
If the message is just on the packet and doesn’t appear on PDA, I 739 it.

Otherwise, it just comes back with me to the office.

Due to volume & time we no longer 739 parcels for the 1st delivery, just scan them no answer, 739 on 2nd delivery.

What time and volume is involved in writing out 739s that means you just scan as no answer on the first attempt? Seems like corner-cutting to me. (Appreciate you may just be doing as you are told by the powers that be, but just saying.)

Must be infuriating for customers. Not everyone tracks their package through an app.

RM need to make customers sign a disclaimer so that if anything goes missing from a designated safe place, the customer has accepted the responsibility for it.

Already covered

The option to set delivery preferences: the preferred neighbour and safe place information that pops up on our PDAs appears through the account settings on the app.

The page does clearly state by continuing [hitting save]you are accepting our use of safe place terms"

no but what reason would you have for not using it?

remember its the customer that has specifically stated they want it left in that location if no one in and also it is recorded on the pda as being left in the designated safe location and that location is accessible by managers after it has been delivered
It wasn't that long ago that the customer was the person/company that posted the item :wave

Has anyone else noticed that there is rarely a DOR on an item that has not had its portrait taken or scanned for GPS or signed for?
It seems to be that the less you track an item, the less likely it is to be allegedly disappeared.

I know, but they shouldn’t go in a bin. Why the feck can’t they sort a day out for when they are in, it’s easy to do on the tracking. :arrrghhh

Because they're stupid, or it doesn't work, or it's untracked. And for a good few people, the bin is safe enough. If it's not recycling week, im happy to get my packets stuffed in that bin. If it is, I will, where I can, make notice of other options.

The amount of packets that get "book into CSP" messages, when the current tracking says "deliver to post office" or "deliver on "x date 2 weeks away"" is astonishing. Several systems just don't talk to each other properly.

Perhaps they should try being in then to accept their package? I can't understand why so many people order items then make no attempt to be in or tell us where they want the item left if they are out.
