New contract resignation
New contracts require 4 weeks notice, but if with the company for less than 28 weeks is it only one week?

Re: New contract resignation
no I mean if started on new contract, but have been working for RM on said contract for less than 28 weeks, do you still need to give 4 weeks notice ?
or because you've been with the company less than 28 weeks you only need to give one week ?

Re: New contract resignation
That clause (13.1) says "If Royal Mail wishes to terminate you...". Does another clause say what happens if you wish to leave? For example, what else does section 13 say in the contract?siajgazz@gmail.com wrote: ↑13 Feb 2024, 05:16Notice of Termination

Re: New contract resignation
In the past I've known it for some to just leave with zero notice, of course that was paid weekly with one weeks notice required so not much to lose if anything at all.
Fast forward to now I wonder if anyone has just left and what happened to the final pay, if you've got a decent job lined up then maybe be tempted to just go, no idea if they could or would withold any pay in lieu of not giving the correct notice through.

13.2 If you wish to leave Royal Mail employment you must give four weeks' notice. Royal Mail may waive this notice either in whole or in part.
13.3 However, if you are employed before Royal Mail has received the results of the:
* Immigration documents check;
* Criminal records check; or
* Satisfactory reference from a previous employer or educational
establishment;
* Driving licence (if applicable)
and those result(s) are not to the satisfaction of Royal Mail such that this leads to the termination of your employment it reserves the right to terminate your employment without notice where statute allows Royal Mail to do so.

Re: New contract resignation
All but 2 of our new starters this year have left and only given 1 weeks notice or just stopped turning up. By the time they've rung advice and support 3 times and sent out 3 letters you've more than served your notice. They don't care about you coz they offered you such a terrible contract return the favour and walk out with two fingers up and your head held high.
