Don’t contact the Union, contact a no win no fee solicitor. They will claim off the householders house insurance. Someone did it in our place and got about £4k. The last one that went through the union got about £500

No win no fee solicitor I have a colleague who did this and claimed through home owners insurance his finger was badly bitten suffered permanent nerve damage he won about £5000 in total after the solicitor took their fees
He only went down this route because the dog’s owners were really unapologetic and basically said it was his fault bla blah

I got bit in the groin by a German shepard years ago ,instead of putting the dog behind a shut door in another room bloke answered the door with his knee sticking out ,off course the dog bit me , if the bite was another 3 inches the other way, I wouldn't have any kids now

Yes you can claim for a dog bite. If the owner is an irresponsible owner and the dog is dangerous and untrained yes claim.
However if a dog is roaming in a secure garden, don't deliver.
If their are warning signs clearly stating that dogs are there, don't deliver.
If anyone came into my secure well signed with warnings, back garden and my trained dog did his protective duty, its tough luck. You should not be there.

Any solicitor with personal injury experience can take the case. The CW union is affiliated with Unionline and I heard that it hasn't been a success but the CWU are stuck with them. You can go to any solicitor you choose. I'd choose a solicitor not a paralegal. You want someone who knows more than the person acting for the other side, not someone who essentially follows a flow chart. You'll get a paralegal at most claims factories like Unionline. Obviously low value claims make it harder to recover fees so don't minimise your injury and if it's affecting you mentally don't be afraid to say so. Your solicitor will only go after a property occupant with insurance , because they know the claim will pay out on settlement. No point going after an occupant without insurance as how will they pay for a successful claim. Don't get a dog bite in a house without insurance.

Sorry for late reply. What your solicitor will do is write increasingly stern letters telling the homeowners to pass their letter to their insurer. When they do. Bingo. When they don't it becomes more difficult.

Your wrong the law has changed owners are responsible for their dogs on their property doesn't matter whether there is a sign or not ,looking at responses on here the no win no fee solicitor seems the way to go as i thought the union are useless.

Can someone help me. I’ve put in a claim but been told the dog owner's don’t have house insurance etc when I asked if they could lie about this my solicitor told me yes there is no way of actually proving if they have insurance or not surely this can’t be right any help would be appreciated.Also is the end of my claim.
