What has the agreement got to do with this Ofcom report? :hmmmm

Answer - absolutely nothing, but carry on banging that drum in all unrelated threads I guess.

It is therefore no surprise to see OFCOM potentially recommending letter deliveries every other day
RM have been after this style of delivery since the early 2000's and now it looks like they are finally getting their way.

To be fair to the union they did warn everyone to do the job by the book to fill their hours each day, because if they didn't it would inevitably lead to where it is potentially going with this OFCOM report.

It is daves fault and the whole of PEC for endorsing the current agreement (surrender) and recommending acceptance of it
Blackmailing us to vote yes to stop exactly what RM are pushing for
Enjoyed your bribe worth it eh!!!!
How would not accepting the deal make any difference to what ofcom are recommending now ? I voted no to the deal by the way.

We all knew it was coming and now at least we can all settle back and see where it goes, if the current state of the business is anything to go by i fancy they will struggle to work out how to manage cutting down to 5 days never mind 3.
They will almost certainly let too many people go or not employ enough to even manage the 5 day cover and will come out with some wild masterplan to get everything delivered that will include half killing the remaining workforce.
All the poor sods on the new contracts will get royally screwed with weekend working, and as all the old timers jump ship and grab a pay off the knowledge that they all had will go with them and the transformation to amazon/evri/dpd hybrid will be complete.
Just my thoughts.

One thing I do blame the union for is accepting the radically reduced VR terms knowing full well this was coming down the line .A decent pay off would have at least softened the blow for all those that wanted out .

Lets see what they come up with, i fancy it's in their interest to get rid of us older workers so they can get the slave labour of the new contracts they want. Now's the time to see how much we can get out of them before we all leave this sinking ship.

The VR terms are maximum of 9 months pay reduced from 2 years pay prior to the agreement, unforgivable for the union to sign up to that .

It's bad enough bringing a loop back and having to double up on it the next day...I dread to think a full frame of 2 days worth of mail being delivered 3 times a week would be like....amongst all the parcels!

The parcels are getting delivered 7 days a week. You must be on a wild delivery to be getting that much letter mail. I get probably an average of one tray a mail a day in my walksort. When busy. Flats are next to nothing right now.

Wow , even worse than most thought, they want to go way beyond dropping the Saturday it seems , worrying times ahead it seems.
The consensus is that no changes, if at all, will happen this side of a general election.

Given the mantra at senior level is improving quality of service for our customers this year I cannot see the incentive as this would improve sustainability of the USO IMO.

The union are right to oppose this due to the inevitable job cuts that will follow, but purely from an objective point, I do agree that in this day and age the 6 day service is no longer required. Call rates on a Monday and Tuesday now are barely 20% in terms of letters on my walk. I'd be surprised if they're 40% even on a Wednesday. Our second mech 'tray' is now a tiny bundle. One tray has 5 or 6 different walks second mech now, with an elastic band round each bundle.
I can barely scrape a finish on time on Monday and Tuesday, I’ve got no chance the rest of the week , including Saturday, and that’s not stopping at all. Today was three mech trays ,so I don’t know where you get your figures from, and I certainly don’t trust Royal Mail figures either.

I’m not entirely sure why the union are even getting involved. The government have said it isn’t happening.
Because everyone knows at some stage it will happen.
This year, next year maybe the year after but it will happen.

Rishi has said he will not countenance a move to a 5 day service. He probably won't countenance a 250 million/year bailout either.
So what are his plans?
Why should the prime minister have a plan for a private company? Perhaps if they got rid of 90% of the non operational grades they might start looking a bit better.its up to Royal Mail to come up with a better plan , with this board I wouldn’t be holding my breath.

Dave Ward the hypocrite this bloke has enabled all of what's going on,the bloke is a 2 faced toerag.
How is it his fault when numbers are falling....It's those running the business into the ground, being blind and not investing that's ruining the job.
Before automation the numbers were huge, fast forward to a digital age, where no-one needs to get out of bed or leave the house anymore is it no wonder the jobs shrunk.
They wanted a parcels business to make money, not a letters delivery and they are not making as much profit now on parcels,so what happens now is their doing not the unions or us at the front line... :no no
Creative accounting and the shareholders want more cash and are not happy their pockets are half filled, and the union want their share,i wondered what else they can take off us to put on their plate.

Dont know what office you work in but i get 2 boxes of mech most days but Monday i just get 1 but have a shorter day ,i leave 4 loops everyday and haven't a hope in hell of finishing any day,if they get rid of Saturdays Mondays will become even more unachievable, what happens to re deliveries if we go to a 3 day or the collections which are on the increase ,i spent half an hour on collections yesterday for the loops i left,i can see royal mail having to take more people on if they keep offering all these different services.
