Burnham-On-Sea resident's anger over 21 misdelivered letters

A Burnham-On-Sea resident has called on Royal Mail to smarten up its act after she received 21 letters that were meant for other people in the town on Saturday (March 22nd).

Liz Monday of Axbridge Close told Burnham-On-Sea.com the heap of misdelivered mail (pictured here) was pushed through her letterbox by a postman on Saturday morning whom she claims probably "couldn't be bothered to walk to the other addresses."

She contacted Royal Mail by telephone after not receiving any of her own post, and was told the incident had been logged. She was also asked her to put the wrongly-delivered mail back in a post box.

Liz did this and has written to each of the other residents, saying: "I have reported this problem to Royal Mail and they have told me to just put the post back in a letter box. This is not good enough for me and I want you to know what is happening."

"In the days of having to be as careful as possible with personal information due to identity theft I feel that this is not good enough. Please just be grateful that your post was delivered to an honest person. I dearly hope ours is."

ffs if my postie delivered 21 wrongly addressed letters today i'd complain too.the lazy postie should be sacked.of course everybody believes her theres a photo.

Wouldn't it be funny if all the letters she wrote came back with little red stickers on saying addressee unknown

I had one today, woman says I'd mis-delivered a letter, she hands me the envelope and there is a red kill off sticker on the front, turns it over and it is a RTS and there is her name and address printed on the back. Pointed out to her that it had been returned as addressee was unknown and she asked "Why is she unknown?", "Don't know" I replied, "Why not?" "Cos I'm thick."

If I lived in Burnham on Sea I would probably welcome the excitement of 21 assorted letters arriving through my letter box. Last time I was there I couldn't find anything to do other than watch the tide go in or out and have a few pints in the Royal Clarence Hotel.

I note that in the photo, all the letters have been neatly arranged for effect. Customers do not regard us as human and think they are the only people with problems or worries. Keeping a clear mind on a four hour walk can be difficult - and at the moment you start to think about your sick child, unexpected financial problem, future job uncertainty or the pain in your foot from the repetitive trudging around the fleshpots of Burnham-on-Sea you have a lapse of concentration and the wrong rubbish goes in the wrong bin - Live with it you bitch - it will all get sorted and your little moment of fame will live on only in your miserable puny mind.

careful boys & girls , plenty of vultures on the lookout , been there with a ex nationalized industry

You guys are right about the picture re the way the letters are arranged , the picture looks if it's been taken by a professional photographer , no shadows from the flash , tidily composed , exposed properly etc on good gear, put the digital file through Photoshop etc -what they call in the trade a still life .

Bet that woman had the laminate spray and polish out before the picture was taken .

Always sceptical of stories that appear in local papers or on web sites. Perhaps she did receive 21 misdeliveries in one go so why fake the photo? She claims to have received the letters on Saturday. Take a close look at all the stamps. Most of my delivery on a Saturday is made up of DSA from TNT, UK mail etc. There are also no flats.
She says she phoned Royal Mail who told her to put them back in the post box. Have you ever phoned a delivery office after a delivery and got a reply?
She says she wrote to all the residents in Burnham explaining the problem. Received the letters on Saturday and wrote the same day? I assume she hand delivered the letters. Population 18,000.
Having said that hopefully it was not a regular postman that stuffed all these letters through her door because he clearly does have problems. But judging by the casuals in our office there could be the problem. And why are we still using casuals?

Maybe she's one of those who take a perverse delight in making delivery as difficult as possible.
Delivery point obscured by massive bush,addressed to street A actual delivery point in street B ,changed her house name but forgot to tell the DO,no name no number just like the four property's either side,should be ok with the recruitment of telepathic casuals
