What happens next week with the 35 hour part-timers who are classed as the new "full time"? Will we start 10 minutes later or finish 10 minutes earlier, or will we be starting 14 minutes later and finishing 10 minutes later like the 37 hour "full timers".
Those of us on these 35 hour contracts are treated as full time when it suits Royal Mail but as part time when it suits as well (like pro-rata Christmas bonus and delivery supplement).

Did you do 24 minutes between September and December, or 10 minutes? Whatever you did, that’s what you’ll do for the next 5 weeks.goneaway wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 19:55What happens next week with the 35 hour part-timers who are classed as the new "full time"? I believe the time owed they're talking about is after 15 weeks of low season hours in the summer. At the end of last year we had 15 weeks of earlier starts:guardianangel wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 05:43Yes i dont understand when they say we will be owing them hours,it all seems a bit dodgey to me and we need proper clarification from our useless union, im sure we are on the end of some sort of Horizon f--k up or is it royal mail purposely screwing us over on a system that is doomed to failure.
FT: 24 minutes x 5 days = 120 minutes per week x 15 weeks = 1800 minutes (30 hours)
PT: 10 minutes x 5 days = 50 minutes per week x 15 weeks = 750 minutes (12.5 hours)
That would have zeroed out at the end of this summer by finishing a total of 1800/750 minutes early, but now we're doing an additional 5 weeks of low season from the 22nd. So going into the previously agreed low season we'd already have clawed back 600/250 minutes and when the summer concludes we'll have got the whole original 1800/750 back meaning we stand at -600/-250.
The machine stops.

So if we take a week off in the summer they only take 35 hoursMr Rush wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 20:05I believe the time owed they're talking about is after 15 weeks of low season hours in the summer. It's a s**t show.goneaway wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 19:55What happens next week with the 35 hour part-timers who are classed as the new "full time"? It blows my mind that offices are finishing that early still. Fair play.

I should have left in the sentence I wrote that said I wasn't even going to attempt to address annual leave because that mess is seemingly still to be worked out.guardianangel wrote: ↑16 Jan 2024, 20:35So if we take a week off in the summer they only take 35 hours
Rereading the LTB, the balance is:
- The early starts at the end of 2023 will be repaid by early finishes (in relative terms!) this summer.
- The early finishes for the next five weeks will be repaid by early starts for five weeks at the end of this year.
The machine stops.

Yeah I'd guess it's offices that are either in or very close to the mail centre, 1pm specials for one example won't be as much of a pita for them.

So how does this effect what we do, day to day? We start 14 mins later and finish 10 mins earlier but there's no change to the workload, prep, sorting in the morning, etc?
I don't get how its going to work, i haven't finished on time yet this week.

its not going to work i assume for the majority of offices who are overstretched, people will still be booking overtime anyway

Here’s me naively thinking that the union that WE pay for to protect our interests, would do just that. Oh well , learning, learning all the time.
