Martin Seidenberg could be hauled in front of MPs depending on his answers....he had to respond by letter this week Tuesday 9th January


It's regarding claims that Royal Mail are still prioritising parcel deliveries over letters (even though they continue to deny this) and Martin will need to explain how the company intends to improve its performance.

Why is Royal Mail struggling to recruit and retain its staff? Some reasons....imposed revisions that have made duties unachievable? new staff being rotated onto different duties? lack of vans and equipment to get the job done? overtime being cut to do additional loops? posties walking in to 2 or 3 days worth of mail and still expected to do all the Tracked parcels?

Why is Royal Mail 'losing money' when there is no industrial action, when there has been an agreement that has cut sick pay and introduced seasonal variations and there are new staff employed on less money? Why is Royal Mail losing money when duty sizes have increased, the postage has increased and staff are doing more work?

Thanks for your reply regarding those points. Royal Mail will likely be trotting out the excuse that they are losing money to justify reducing the USO to the select committee.

Nothing against new starters being rotated onto new duties (we all did when we first started) but last week I had to work with someone different everyday as my usual van share partner was off. Surely, it would have made more sense to keep someone on it all week.

The Select Committee's marked the end for the last CEO and it was unfortunate that he had to be pushed until he was actually falling halfway out of the office boardroom before resigning. It might not even get to this point with Martin Seidenberg as it depends on his answers and he has time on his side to get his team set up even if it is a case of same sh*t, different bosses for us.

Most of the initial billion pound loss last year was actually due to a loss of impairment. It's not been pocketed by bosses nor shareholders and doesn't actually involve 'real money' but moving things around on the balance sheet to reduce income and total assets.

Never knew you were an accountant ,i believe a lot of people in royal mail had their hands in the till so to speak and no one will convince me differently.

Exactly that. He has been at the helm all the time. Steering the company, not Thompson. It was Williams at BA, it is Williams at the railway dispute trying to slash and burn staff, and it's Williams here now. Same s**t.

There are immediate changes that are happening within the business to try and address the Quality of Service issues which are mentioned on the other thread. The company are trying to show that they are taking Quality of Service issues seriously. The last thing that Royal Mail want is for the top dogs to be brought in to face another Select Committee circus which calls into question their competency of running the company.
