New Sick policy

Post by Gary55 »

Hi does anyone know how many sick days now trigger a stage 1 and subsequent stages. They put a threatening reminder of how much pay you'll now lose on our frames but I can't remember the new trigger stages in days thanks

12 days in a calendar year or 3 instances
It is the same trigger for 1st and second stages.
11 days or 2 instances and you're fine.

The stage will also last for a whole year and not six months as before.

2 days statutory pay on second knock,
4 days for third,
3 days for fourth.
So no pay on those first few days then normal pay thereafter.

Can we now refuse to go out in cold wet weather and baking heat or walk too long as there has been no risk assessment on these , if there is a chance it can make us ill can we make a claim against royal mail,my big coat only keeps me dry for a few hours for a few months from new then leaks and they say i can only have one every 3 years .Absolute disgrace that our union agreed to this reduction in sick benefits with the nature of our job.The stage warnings have always been corrupt and the union do little there too.Come on Martin sort it out !!!!

I was off in January 2023 for 3 weeks and unfortunately, I’m off this week with tonsillitis does that mean when I go back I’ll be on a stage? I’m not on any stage at the moment. Thanks

No, can't remember the exact date for the criteria but absences before a certain date last year don't count towards the new system, it was definitely after January.

I've been trying to search for the agreement on here but I can't find it, I remember it got clarified due to some people receiving letters informing them their previous stages were getting extended due to the new policy.

Anyone issued a stage before 30th April will have it wiped off record(August 1st)if they never had another absence👍

It's made up by your Dom/Com now.
There is no Union backing, they would rather you sort it out.
