Definitely watching this thread although I've been at Royal Mail for years!
I recently went on sick with work related stress due to the constant bullying and harassment of a particular line manager who would impose impossible workloads (ie quadruple lapsing on a solo duty) whilst refusing to pay overtime and insisting complete on time on pain of disciplinary (yes I know of cutting off but you easily forget this in the presence of an expert gaslighter).
Cheers in advance
Managers are supposed to go round everyone and check that each individual can complete the workload for that day. It never used to be this way but it's because the company have given us increased workloads. Some of them have adopted weird and wonderful ways to try and manipulate posties into taking all the work but the truth is there is no commit to deliver.
At the very least the company should pay you reasonable overtime if you are willing to stay out and complete the work!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
You didn’t read your contract did you? You are contracted to x hours a week, they can be worked 7am till 7pm, 7 days a week. Management only need to give you 24 hours notice of a change of attendance. You are not entitled to a paid meal relief, you get no extra supplements. These are the terms the Union agreed for new starters. I’m sorry it’s s**t but that’s the way it is.

Thats right.
This person has had a sniff of something different that they were never employed for, and now they are wriggling for a way out without performing what they signed up for.
Many more to come abusing “flexible working” legislation etc
